and worsen driving safety considerably,
which can lead to loss of control of the
vehicle.
High voltage system
General information on the
high voltage system
WARNING
Always observe the highway code and speed
limits and drive with foresight. A correct
assessment of the situation can make the
difference between arriving safely at your
destination and being seriously injured in an
accident.
DANGER
The vehicle's high-voltage mains and high-
voltage battery are dangerous and can cause
burns, other injuries and fatal electric shock.
● Always assume that the high-voltage
battery is fully charged and that all high-
voltage components are live. This can be
the case even with the hybrid drive system
and ignition switched off.
NOTICE
Volkswagen accepts no liability for damage to
the vehicle caused by poor fuel quality,
improper work on the vehicle or limited
availability of original spare parts.
● Never touch the high-voltage cables or the
high-voltage battery and its terminals, and
never touch them with jewellery or other
metal objects, especially when the cables,
the battery or its terminals are damaged.
NOTICE
Please note the indications and information
relating to vehicles of category N1.

● Never carry out any work on the high-
voltage network, the high-voltage cables or
the high-voltage battery yourself.
category N1 (light commercial vehicle).
Regular maintenance work on the vehicle
not only contributes to the safety of the
vehicle, but also helps to ensure that the
vehicle is maintained regularly.
● Never open components or parts of the
high-voltage network. Never carry out any
maintenance work on them, repair them or
disconnect them from the high-voltage
mains.
The maintenance of the road is not only
important for the maintenance of the road, but
also for its proper functioning and road safety.
Therefore, have the work carried out as
prescribed in the maintenance plan. If the
vehicle is used under adverse conditions, it may
be necessary to carry out some work before
the next service date. Adverse conditions are
e.g. heavy traffic with intermittent stops or
driving in dusty areas. For more information,
please contact a Volkswagen dealer or
a specialised workshop.
● Never damage, modify or dismantle the
orange high-voltage cables or disconnect
them from the high-voltage mains.
● Never open, modify or disassemble the
high voltage battery cover.
● Work on the high-voltage system and other
systems that can be indirectly influenced by
the high-voltage system may only be
carried out by qualified and trained
personnel.
● When working in the vicinity of high-
voltage components and cables, where it is
necessary to use sharp, cutting or chipping
tools or heat sources, such as soldering,
brazing, soldering, hot-air soldering or hot-
gluing, the system must first be de-
energised. Only qualified and trained
personnel are authorised to de-energise the
system.
