The Intake Flap Motor V157 is bolted to the variable
intake manifold.

Task
The motor is actuated by Engine Control Module
J623 depending on engine load and speed. Using two
operating rods, it adjusts four intake manifold flaps
per cylinder bank.
If these are actuated, they close part of the intake
port in the cylinder head. This leads to circular air
movement in the cylinder head and improves mixture
formation.
Effects in the Event of Failure
If the Intake Flap Motor V157 fails, the intake manifold
flaps can no longer be actuated. This leads to a
deterioration in combustion and a reduction in output
and torque. The fuel consumption also increases.
