Introduction
The exact appearance of the sym-
bol may vary.
The predictive efficiency messages can help you
to anticipate the driving route and adopt an eco-
nomical driving style. Depending on the equip-
ment in your vehicle, the system can access data
from the navigation system, from the camera be-
hind the windscreen and from the radar sensors.

When you have switched on automatic recupera-
tion and you take your foot off the accelerator,
the efficiency assist controls the recuperation
and coasting phases depending on the situation.

Important
The cruise control system, the adaptive cruise
control or the adaptive cruise assist must not
be regulating the speed.
You can switch the predictive messages on/off in
the Driver assist menu ðpage 134.
The speed must be at least 30 km/h.
The remaining route must be long enough for
the system to react to the event.
System limits
The functions depend on how up-to-date the
navigation data are and the area detected by
the camera.

Display
Certain functions are not available when you
leave the road area mapped on the navigation
system.
The symbol appears in the instrument cluster
display and on the head-up display as soon as the
efficiency assist recommends that you take your
foot off the accelerator.
Further information
In driving program S and on vehicles with Audi
drive select, the type of information displayed
may vary depending on the transmission position
and on the driving mode currently selected.
The speed limit displayed in the instrument
cluster is given in the units applicable in a par-
ticular country. For example, if 50 is displayed
on the instrument cluster, this may signify mph
or km/h, depending on the country.
On vehicles with Audi drive select, more messag-
If a route has been planned on vehicles with a
navigation system, that route will be used as
reference for the tips given. If no route has
been entered, the system uses an assumed
route plan to predict the situation ahead.

Depending on the vehicle’s equipment, event
symbols may indicate which event the function is
reacting to:

The actual traffic signs on your route always
take precedence over the information on the
display. As the driver you are always responsi-

and regulations.

Always direct your full attention to the road
and surroundings, even when you are using
the efficiency assist. It is always the driver's
responsibility to assess the traffic situation
and take appropriate care.
Traffic signs 1 which currently apply are shown
in the instrument cluster.
In cases where the system is able to detect par-
ticular types of restrictions, these are displayed
under the following conditions:
In certain situations, the recuperation func-
tion can brake the vehicle in anticipation of
the route or traffic ahead; however the recu-
peration braking effect is limited. Always be
ready to apply the brakes – risk of accident!
A temporary speed restriction for wet
weather is detected and the vehicle sen-
sors, e.g. the rain sensor, detect that the
restriction actually applies.
Camera-based traffic
sign recognition
A temporary speed restriction for fog is
detected and the front camera detects
that the restriction actually applies.
Introduction
A speed restriction applying at certain
times of day has been detected and corre-
sponds to the time displayed in the in-
strument cluster.
The traffic sign recognition system displays traf-
fic signs detected by the front camera in the in-
strument cluster and on the head-up display. Da-
ta from the navigation system are also factored
into the information displayed.
The vehicle is towing a trailer and the
Trailer-specific speed limits option is ac-
tivated on the centre display. In this case,
traffic signs applying to vehicles towing
trailers are displayed. This only applies to
factory-fitted towing brackets.
The traffic sign recognition system only informs
and warns you of speed limits. Depending on the
vehicle’s equipment, additional driver assist sys-
tems may adjust the vehicle’s speed.
The speed limit displayed in the instrument clus-
ter is given in the units applicable in a particular
country. The number displayed may represent
mph or km/h, depending on the country.
