Instrument cluster
Normal temperature
the layout that you last selected for the particu-
lar Audi drive select mode will be shown auto-
matically.
The LEDs will settle somewhere in the centre of
the display once the engine has reached operat-
ing temperature. If the warning lamp lights
up in the instrument cluster display, the coolant
temperature is too high ðpage 326.
►
To link a layout to a specific Audi drive select
mode, switch to the desired Audi drive select
mode and set the desired layout on the MMI.
Setting additional display
CAUTION
The additional displays that can be selected vary
depending on the equipment installed on your
vehicle.
– Auxiliary headlights and other attachments
in front of the cooling air inlet reduce the
cooling effect of the coolant. At high out-
side temperatures and high engine loads,
there is a risk of the engine overheating.
– The front spoiler also ensures proper distri-
bution of the cooling air when the vehicle is
moving. If the spoiler is damaged this can
reduce the cooling effect, which could cause
the engine to overheat. Seek professional
assistance.
►
Applies to MMI: On the home screen, select
SETTINGS > Display & brightness > Audi virtu-
al cockpit > (Configure).
►
Select the desired additional display.
Reducing the view
On some equipment versions you can hide the
central area in the instrument cluster.
►
On the instrument cluster, select the vehicle
Note
functions tab > button > Reduced display.
Applies to: vehicles with diesel engine
Changing the colour scheme
Applies to: RS model
These engines are so efficient that they may
not reach their full operating temperature in
very cold weather. This is quite normal and no
cause for concern.
On some equipment versions you can change the
colour scheme in the instrument cluster.
►
On the instrument cluster, select the vehicle
Rev counter
functions tab > button > Change display col-
our.
The rev counter 2 ðpage 17 indicates the num-
ber of engine revolutions per minute. The start of
the red zone on the dial indicates the maximum
engine speed which may be used briefly in all
gears after the engine has been run in properly.
However, it is advisable to change up a gear or se-
lect transmission position D/S (or lift your foot
off the accelerator) before the needle reaches the
red zone.
Coolant temperature
gauge
Applies to: vehicles with coolant temperature gauge
The coolant temperature gauge 1 ðpage 17 on-
ly works when the ignition is switched on. In or-
der to avoid possible damage to the engine,
please read the following notes for the different
temperature ranges.
Displaying the rev counter
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive
Engine cold
►
Applies to MMI: On the home screen, select
If the LEDs are still in the lower range of the dis-
play, this indicates that the engine has not yet
reached operating temperature. Avoid high en-
gine speeds, full acceleration and heavy engine
loads.
SETTINGS > Display & brightness > Audi virtu-
al cockpit > Left gauge > Rev counter or Com-
bined.
