Overview
Short-term/long-term memory
The on-board computer is displayed in the first
tab of the driver information system. Further ve-
hicle functions are available depending on the
equipment on your vehicle.
The short-term memory collects the information
on a journey from the time the ignition is switch-
ed on until it is switched off. If the journey is re-
sumed within two hours after the ignition is
switched off, the new figures are automatically
included in the calculation.
Press the button on the multi-function
steering wheel.

Unlike the short-term memory, the long-term
memory is not erased automatically. In this way,
you can determine the period for which you wish
the on-board computer to supply driving infor-
mation.
Lap times ðpage 183
Average fuel consumption
Lap statistics ðpage 184
Acceleration measurement ðpage 184
The current consumption can be shown in a bar
display. The average consumption from the
short-term memory can also be displayed. If the
bar turns green, your vehicle is saving energy
(e.g. using recuperation).

tion steering wheel 7 ðpage 18, Fig. 4 until
In the Energy consumers view, auxiliary equip-
ment currently affecting the vehicle's consump-
tion is listed. The display shows up to three ener-
gy consumers. The energy consumer drawing the
most power appears at the top of the list. If more
than three energy consumers are switched on,
the ones currently using the most power are dis-
played. In addition, a scale indicates the overall
current fuel consumption of all energy consum-
ers.
the desired display appears.
Resetting values to zero
Important: The consumption, short-term memo-
ry or long-term memory display must be selec-

To reset the values in the selected memory to

format can be changed via the infotainment
system ðpage 306.
Gear shift indicator
To familiarise yourself with the gear shift indica-
tor, drive in the normal way to start with. A gear
change will be recommended on the instrument
cluster display if the gear you are in is not the
most economical choice. If no gear change is rec-
ommended, you are already in the most econom-
ical gear.
The display is only visible in tiptronic mode
ðpage 114.
The symbol after the current gear means
change up a gear.
CAUTION
The gear shift indicator is intended to help
the driver save fuel. It is not intended to rec-
ommend the right gear for all driving situa-
tions. In certain situations, only the driver can
choose the correct gear (for instance when
overtaking or driving up a steep gradient).
