High-voltage system  
LED on the charging unit  
Meaning  
When using the Audi charging system, make sure the power  
plug is inserted in the power outlet. No power supply was recog-  
nized even though the charging cable is plugged in. Have the  
power supply or power supply system inspected. When using  
the Audi charging system, check the status displays on the unit.  
See an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility  
for assistance if necessary.  
Illuminated  
Yellow  
The vehicle is not secured from rolling away. Check if the “P” po-  
sition is selected and the parking brake is set. If the LED contin-  
ues to flash, see an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi  
Service Facility for assistance.  
Flashing  
The charging connector may not be able to lock correctly in the  
vehicle charging port. Check if the charging connector is insert-  
ed correctly. Disconnect the charging connector, reconnect it to  
the charging socket, and press it upward lightly for five seconds,  
or use a different charging station. If the LED stays turned on,  
there is a malfunction either in the vehicle charging system or at  
the power source. See an authorized Audi dealer or authorized  
Audi Service Facility for assistance if necessary.  
Red  
Illuminated  
The outside temperature is too low or too high.

The charging display modes are also displayed  
in the instrument cluster

Manual operation  
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive

Manually releasing the charging port door  
In case of malfunction, you can manually release  
the charging port door.  
Open the luggage compartment lid.

Turn the cap counterclockwise and fold the cov-  
er ðfig. 102 upward.  
Loosen the red loop 1 ðfig. 103 from the re-  
tainer and then pull on the loop carefully ð  
To open the charging port door, press on the  
right side of the door ðpage 127, fig. 100.  
After releasing manually, secure the loop on  
the retainer and close the cover.

Drive to an authorized Audi dealer or author-  
ized Audi Service Facility immediately to have  
the malfunction corrected.  
Charging settings  
Selecting a charging mode  
You can select if your vehicle should start charg-  
ing immediately, or if it should start charging af-  
ter a delay.  
Manually releasing the charging connector  
If you are not able to pull the charging connector  
out of the vehicle charging port, there may be a  
malfunction. You must use the manual release to  
release the vehicle charging connector.  
Immediate charging mode  
The charging session will start immediately after  
the charging connector has been plugged in and  
the charging station has been activated, if re-  
quired.  
Requirement: the “P” position must be selected  
and the vehicle must be unlocked.

Press the 1 ðpage 127, fig. 101 button on  
the charging session.

A colored bar in the button will light up when im-  
mediate charging mode is active. The LED in the  
button of the charging unit will turn on.

Timer charging mode  
The charging session will start after a delay,  
based on a timer that has already been set and  
activated ðpage 130.  
If the charging connector still cannot be removed  
after using the manual release, there is still a  
malfunction. The charging connector could also  
be frozen in place if the temperatures are below  
freezing. See an authorized Audi dealer or au-  
thorized Audi Service Facility for assistance in all  
cases.  
Press the 2 ðpage 127, fig. 101 button on  
the charging unit, or

When timer charging mode is active, Timer  
charging mode will be displayed in the MMI. The  
LED in the button of the charging unit will turn  
on.  
Note  
Only pull on the loop until you feel resistance.  
You will not hear it release. If you continue to  
pull, you could damage the manual release  
mechanism.

Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive  
Messages  
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive  
If the  
indicator light turns on, then the range  
is low or very low. Charge the high-voltage bat-  
tery.

Possible settings  
Charging equipment  
Use a timer to specify the time at which your ve-  
hicle should be finished charging. A timer can ei-  
ther be set one time or to repeat at selected  
times.

Using the charging equipment  
Pay attention to the following information for  
safe handling of the charging equipment:  
You can adjust the following settings when using  
a timer:  
Secure the charging equipment against any  
strain, such as being run over, falling, pulling,  
bending, and crushing.  
Departure time (time at which the vehicle will  
be finished charging).  
Air conditioning for departure time  
Do not submerge the charging equipment in  
water and protect it from snow and ice.  
When you remove the charging cable from the  
vehicle and from the power supply, only pull on  
the connectors and not on the cable.  
Put the cap on after using the charging cable.  
Only operate the Audi charging system in a  
power supply system with a frequency of  
50 Hz/60 Hz.  
Preferred charging time (for example, to use a  
less expensive electricity rate).  
Configuring and activating the timer  
Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:  
VEHICLE > Charging & Efficiency > Charging.  
To configure a timer, select > in the line for the  
desired timer 1 .  
If the timer should be set one time, select Indi-  
vidual timer. If the timer should be set to re-  
peat, select Repeat timer.
