Driving  
minutes while stationary with the engine  
With the engine off, the braking and steering  
assistance systems are also cut off - risk of  
loss of control of the vehicle!  
Warning  
running (accelerated idle speed).  
If vehicle left unattended for 10  
minutes in READY state with drive selector  
in mode N, vehicle will come out of READY  
state and can drain 12 V battery.  
Warning  
If the engine does not start straight  
away, switch off the ignition. Wait a few  
seconds before operating the starter motor  
again. If the engine does not start after a  
few attempts, do not keep trying - risk of  
damaging the starter motor, the battery and  
the engine.  
Tip  
Check that the parking brake is  
correctly applied, particularly on sloping  
ground.  
When leaving the vehicle, keep the key in  
your possession and lock the vehicle.  
Warning  
If Ignition ON (Crank) or shifting gears  
is triggered without pressing brake pedal,  
"Press brake to start vehicle" or "To shift  
gear press brake" will appear in Cluster for  
~3Secs.

Starting / Switching off the  
electric motor  
Tip  
STARTING / SWITCHING OFF THE  
ENGINE WITH KEYLESS ENTRY AND  
START  
In mild conditions, do not leave  
the engine to warm up while stationary,  
but move off straight away and drive at  
moderate speed.  
Starting  
The drive selector must be in mode N.  
Depress the brake pedal and turn the key  
until it reaches position 4 (Start).  
Keep your foot on the brake pedal until the  
READY indicator lamp comes on and an audible  
signal is emitted, indicating that the vehicle is  
ready to drive.  
With your foot on the brake, select mode D  
or R.  
Release the brake pedal, then accelerate.  
On starting, the instrument panel lights up and  
the power indicator moves to the "neutral"  
position. The steering column automatically  
unlocks (you may hear a sound and feel the  
steering wheel move).

engine with Keyless Entry  
and Start  
Switching off the engine  
Immobilise the vehicle.  
With the engine at idle, turn the key to  
position 1.  
Remove the key from the ignition switch.  
Tip  
To lock the steering column, turn the

electronic key is not detected, a message is  
displayed.  
Move the electronic key so that the engine  
can ba started or switched off.  
If there is still a problem, refer to the "Key  
not detected - Back-up starting or Back-up

Switching off  
Turn the key fully to position 1 (Stop).  
Before exiting the vehicle, check that:  
– The drive selector is in mode N.  
– The READY indicator lamp is off.  
Warning  
Never switch off the ignition before  
the complete immobilisation of the vehicle.

OFF. The steering wheel lock releases with the  
ignition ON. If the lock does not disengage and  
the vehicle does not start, turn the wheel to  
the left and right to disengage the lock and try  
starting your vehicle again.

Engaging reverse gear  
Switching on the ignition without starting  
the engine  
With a manual gearbox, place the gear lever  
in neutral and fully depress the clutch pedal.  
With an automatic gearbox, select mode P  
or N and depress the brake pedal.  
Press the "START/STOP" button while  
maintaining pressure on the pedal until the  
engine starts.  
Tip  
Fully depress the clutch pedal.  
Push the gear lever fully to the right, then  
backwards.  
If the engine stalls, release the clutch  
pedal and fully depress it again, the engine  
will restart automatically.  
With the electronic key in the passenger  
compartment, pressing the "START/STOP"  
button, without depressing any of the pedals,  
allows the ignition to be switched on without  
starting the engine (the instrument panel and  
accessories such as the audio system and the  
lighting will come on).  
Warning  
Switching off  
Only engage reverse gear when the  
vehicle is stationary with the engine at idle.  
Immobilise the vehicle using the parking  
brake.  
With a manual gearbox, ideally put the gear

engine starting:  
Always select neutral.  
With an automatic gearbox, ideally select  
mode P.  
Press this button again to switch off the  
ignition and allow the vehicle to be locked.  
Press the clutch pedal.

Tip  
Your vehicle may be equipped with a passive  
electronic steering wheel lock. This lock

If the conditions are not met, you will hear an  
audible signal, accompanied by the display of a  
message.  
With the engine running, depress the brake  
pedal.  
Gear selector positions

Move the gear selector fully to the right to  
engage 5th or 6th gear.  
Warning  
Release the parking brake.  
Select position R, D or M.  
Gradually release the brake pedal.  
Failure to follow this instruction could  
cause permanent damage to the gearbox  
(inadvertent engagement of 3rd or 4th gear).  
The vehicle moves off immediately.  
Engaging reverse gear  
Tip  
If position N is selected inadvertently  
while driving, allow the engine to return to  
idle, then select position D to accelerate.

Park  
- Vehicle immobilised, parking brake  
applied or released.

Warning  
When the engine is running at idle  
with the brakes released, if position R, D or  
M is selected, the vehicle moves off even  
without the accelerator being pressed.  
Never leave children unattended inside the  
vehicle when the engine is running.  
When carrying out maintenance with the  
engine running, apply the parking brake and  
select position P.
