WARNING
161) Never smoke while working in the engine compartment: gas and inflammable vapours may be present, with the risk of fire.
162) Be very careful when working in the engine compartment when the engine is hot: you may get burned.
IMPORTANT
51) Be careful not to confuse the various types of fluids while topping up: they are not compatible with one another! Topping up with an
unsuitable fluid could severely damage your vehicle.

TwinAir engines)

55)
If the message requesting an engine
oil top-up appears on the display, the
user must top up the oil to the MAX
level and then reset the warning from
the instrument panel as described in
the "Display" chapter the "Knowing the
instrument panel" section.
Check the oil level a few minutes (about
5) after the engine has stopped, with
the vehicle parked on level ground.
Check that the oil level is between
the MIN and MAX references on the
dipstick (B). If the level of the oil is close
to or below the MIN mark, add oil via
the filler fitting A until the MAX mark is
reached.
Check that the fluid is at the maximum
level (the fluid level in the reservoir
must not exceed the MAX mark). If
the fluid level in the reservoir is too
low, undo reservoir cap (E) and add
the fluid described in the "Technical
Specifications" section.
NOTE After adding or changing the
oil, let the engine turn over for a few
seconds and wait a few minutes after
turning it off before you check the level.
NOTE Carefully clean the cap of the
reservoir (E) and the surrounding
surface. Take great care to ensure that
impurities do not enter the reservoir
when the cap is opened. Always use a
funnel with a built-in filter with a mesh
of 0.12 mm or less.
NOTE For 0.9 TwinAir, 0.9 TwinAir
Turbo and 1.0 Firefly Hybrid versions
(where provided), the engine oil level
dipstick B is integral with the cap A.
Loosen the plug, clean the dipstick with
a cloth that does not leave traces,
reinsert the dipstick and re-tighten
the plug. Unscrew the plug again
and check that the engine oil level is
between the MIN and MAX marks on
the dipstick.
ENGINE COOLANT
163)
54)
The coolant level must be checked
when the engine is cold and must
range between the MIN and MAX
marks on the reservoir.
CONVENTIONAL
BATTERY
167) 168) 169) 170)
If the level is too low, unscrew reservoir
cap C and add the fluid described in
the "Technical Specifications" section.
56)
4)
The conventional battery (F) does not
require the electrolyte to be topped
up with distilled water. A periodic
check carried out at a Fiat Dealership
is, however, necessary to check
efficiency.
NOTE For 1.0 FireFly Hybrid versions
we recommend topping up the engine
oil with the help of a funnel.
WINDSCREEN/REAR
WINDOW WASHER FLUID
164)
Engine oil consumption
The maximum engine oil consumption
is usually 400 grams every 1000 km.
During the initial period of use the
engine oil consumption conditions
should be considered as having
stabilised after the first 5000 -
6000 km.
If the level is too low, raise reservoir
cap (D) (see previous pages) and add
the fluid described in the "Technical
Specifications" section.
WARNING After the conventional
battery is disconnected, the steering
must be initialised. The
warning
light on the instrument panel switches
on to indicate this. To carry out this
procedure turn the steering wheel all
