Starting and Stopping the Engine -> Steering Wheel Lock for Your Ford Mondeo 4 Door Fifth Generation (2014-2022)

Starting and Stopping the Engine  
Stopping the engine when the  
vehicle is moving  
WARNING  
Switching off the engine when the  
vehicle is still moving will result in a  
loss of brake and steering assistance.  
The steering will not be locked, but higher  
effort will be required. When the ignition is  
switched off some electrical circuits,  
warning lamps and indicators may also be  
OFF.  
Press and hold the button for two seconds,  
or press three times within three seconds.  
2. Insert the key into the key holder.

Always check that the steering is  
unlocked before attempting to move  
your vehicle.  
Vehicles without keyless starting  
To activate the steering wheel lock;  
3. With the key in this position you can  
press the button to switch the ignition  
on and start your vehicle.  
1. Remove the key from the ignition  
switch.  
2. Turn the steering wheel.  
Stopping the engine with the  
vehicle stationary  
Vehicles with keyless starting  
Note: The steering wheel lock will not  
activate when the ignition is on or the  
vehicle is moving.  
Note: The ignition, all electrical circuits,  
warning lamps and indicators will be  
switched off.  
Your vehicle has an electronically  
controlled steering wheel lock. This  
operates automatically.  
Manual transmission  
Briefly press the button.  
The steering wheel lock will activate after  
a short period of time once you have  
parked your vehicle and the passive key is  
outside of the vehicle.  
Automatic transmission  
1. Move the transmission selector lever  
to position P.  
2. Briefly press the button.

Deactivating the steering wheel lock  
Switch the ignition on, or:  
Vehicles with automatic transmission  
If the engine does not start after three  
attempts, wait 10 seconds and follow the  
flooded engine procedure.  
If you have difficulty starting the engine  
when the temperature is below -25°C  
(-13°F), press the accelerator pedal to the  
mid-way point of its travel and try again.  
Press the brake pedal.  
Vehicles with manual transmission  
Press the clutch pedal.  
Flooded engine  
Vehicles with manual transmission  
STARTING A GASOLINE  
ENGINE  
1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.  
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and

a limited period of time, for example 10  
seconds. The number of start attempts is  
limited to approximately six. If you exceed  
this limit, the system will not allow you to  
try again until a period of time has elapsed,  
for example 30 minutes.

3. Fully depress the brake pedal.  
4. Start the engine.  
All vehicles  
If the engine does not start, repeat the cold  
1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.  
2. Start the engine.  
or hot engine procedure.  
Engine idle speed after starting  
The speed at which the engine idles  
immediately after starting will vary  
depending on the engine temperature.  
The idle speed is automatically increased  
when the engine is cold this is to heat the  
catalytic converter. This keeps the vehicle  
emissions to an absolute minimum.  
The idle speed will slowly decrease to the  
normal level as the catalytic converter  
warms up.  
Vehicles with automatic transmission  
Note: Do not touch the accelerator pedal.  
Note: Releasing the brake pedal during  
engine start may stop the engine cranking  
and return to ignition on.

3. Start the engine.

If the engine does not start, wait for a short
