5. Block both the front and rear of wheel

Installing a wheel

10.Loosen the lug nuts and remove them

with your fingers. Slide the wheel off

the studs and lay it flat so it cannot

roll away. To put the wheel on the

hub, pick up the spare tire, line up the

holes with the studs and slide the

wheel onto them.

僅 When you install a wheel, always

remove any corrosion, dirt or foreign

materials present on the mounting

surfaces of the wheel or the surface of

the wheel hub, brake drum or brake

disc that contacts the wheel. Make

sure to secure any fasteners that

attach the rotor to the hub so they do

not interfere with the mounting sur

faces of the wheel. Installing wheels

without correct metal-to-metal con

tact at the wheel mounting surfaces

can cause the lug nuts to loosen and

the wheel to come off while your vehi

cle is in motion, resulting in loss of

care in checking for thread style before

installing aftermarket lug nuts or wheels.
