Centrally lockking and unlocking the vehhicle from  
the inside  
This does not lock or unlock the fuel ꢀller ꢁap.  
The vehicle is not unlocked:  
Unlocking/opening the doors fromm the inside  
R
If you have locked the vehicle using the Smart-  
Key  
R
If you have locked the vehicle using KEYLESS-  
GO  
Locking/unlocking thee vehicle with KEYLESS-GO  
Requirements:  
R
The SmartKey is outside the vehicle.  
R
The distance between the SmartKey and the  
vehicle does not exceed 3 ꢂ (1 m).  
R
The driver's door and the door on which the  
door handle is used are closed.

NOTE Damage to the vehicle caused by  
unintentionally opening the trunk lid  
#
To unlock: press button 1.  
#
To unlock and open a front door: pull door  
handle 1.  
#
To lock: press button 2.  
The red indicator lamp on button 2 lights up  
once the vehicle is locked.

When using an automatic car wash  
When using a high pressure cleaner  
#
To unlock a rear door: pull the rear door han-  
dle.  
#
Deactivate the function of the SmartKey  
in these situations.

The buttons are also on the front passenger  
and rear doors.

To open a rear door: pull the rear door handle  
again.

Make sure that the SmartKey is at a min-  
imum distance of 10 ꢂ (3 m) away from  
the vehicle.  
If you open the trunk lid from outside, the trunk  
lid is automatically unlocked.  
Observe the notes:  
Problems with KEYLESS-GO, troubleshooting

On washing the vehicle in a car wash  
(/ page 264)  
You can no longer lock or unlock the vehicle using  
KEYLESS-GO

On using a high pressure cleaner  
(/ page 266)  
Possible causes:  
R
The function of the SmartKey has been deacti-  
vated.  
R
The SmartKey battery is weak or discharged.

Activate the function of the SmartKey  
(/ page 67).

To unlock the vehicle: touch the inner surface  
of the door handle.  
#
Check the battery using the indicator lamp  
(/ page 66).  
To lock the vehicle: touch sensor surface 1  
or 2.  
#
Replace the SmartKey battery, if necessary  
(/ page 68).  
#
Convenience closing: touch recessed sensor  
surface 2 until the closing process has been  
completed.  
#
Use the replacement SmartKey.  
#
Use the emergency key to lock or unlock  
(/ page 72).

Have the vehicle and SmartKey checked at a  
qualiꢀed specialist workshop.  
In the following situations, there is a danger of  
being locked out when the function is activated:  
R
While the vehicle is being tow-started or  
pushed  
There is interference from a powerful radio signal  
source  
R
If the vehicle is being tested on a roller dyna-  
mometer  
Possible causes if the function of KEYLESS-GO is  
impaired:  
R
High voltage power lines  
Locking/unlocking thee vehiclee with the emer-  
gency key  
R
Mobile phones  
R
Electronic devices (notebooks, tablets)  
Locking/unlocking the driver's door with the  
emergency key  
R
Shielding due to metal objects or induction  
loops for electrical gate systems or automatic  
barriers

If you wish to lock the vehicle entirely using  
the emergency key, ꢀrst press the button for  
locking from the inside while the driver's door  
is open. Then proceed to lock the driver's  
door using the emergency key.

Make sure that there is suꢃcient distance  
between the SmartKey and the potential  
source of interference.  
#

To activate: press and hold button 2 for  
approximately ꢀve seconds until an acoustic  
signal sounds.  
Activvating//ddeactivating the automatic llocking fea-  
ture  
To deactivate: press and hold button 1 for  
approximately ꢀve seconds until an acoustic  
signal sounds.  
The vehicle is locked automatically when the vehi-  
cle is switched on and the wheels are turning  
faster than walking pace.  
The red indicator lamp on button 2 lights up  
once the vehicle is locked.

Locking the front passenger door and rear doors

Remove the emergency key (/ page 68).  
To unlock: turn the emergency key counter-  
clockwise to position 1.  
Insert the emergency key as far as it will go  
into opening 1 in the cover.

Insert a suitable object, e.g. the emergency  
key, into opening 1 on the door lock.  
To lock: turn the emergency key clockwise to  
position 1.  
#

Pull and hold the door handle.  
#
To lock the leꢂ-hand side of the vehicle: turn  
the emergency key counter-clockwise as far  
as it will go.  
Carefully press the cover onto the lock cylin-  
der until it engages and is seated ꢀrmly.  
Pull the cover on the emergency key as  
straight as possible away from the vehicle until  
it releases.

Release the door handle.
