Safety information

Warning

Even when it is indicated that the high-

voltage battery is discharged, the high-

voltage system is always still under high

voltage. There is a risk of fire or a risk of

injury. Do not touch or change live parts,

for instance orange high-voltage cables,

even when the batteries are discharged.

Check Control

Concept

The Check Control system monitors func-

tions in the vehicle and notifies you of mal-

functions in the monitored systems.

The display shows the eDRIVE system

while driving or charging the vehicle:

–

Yellow: electrical energy.

Arrow: direction of the energy flow.

General information

The operating states, such as eDRIVE,

are displayed.

A Check Control message is displayed as a

combination of indicator or warning lights

and text messages in the instrument cluster

and in the Head-up Display.

Displaying the energy flow

In addition, an acoustic signal may be out-

put and a SMS text message may appear on

the Control Display.

The indicator/warning lights can light up in

a variety of combinations and colors.

Make sure that the safety belts are posi-

tioned correctly.

The Brake Assistant function may

not activate. Avoid abrupt braking.

Take the longer braking distance

into account.

Airbag system

Have the system immediately checked by a

dealer's service center or another qualified

service center or repair shop.

Airbag system and belt tensioner

may not be working.

Have the vehicle checked immedi-

ately by a dealer's service center or another

qualified service center or repair shop.

DSC Dynamic Stability Control

The indicator light flashes: DSC con-

trols the drive and braking forces.

The vehicle is stabilized. Reduce

speed and modify your driving style to the

driving circumstances.

Parking brake

The parking brake is set.

For releasing the parking brake, re-

fer to page 108.

The indicator light lights up: DSC has mal-

functioned.

Have the system checked by a dealer's serv-

ice center or another qualified service cen-

ter or repair shop.

Approach control warning

Indicator light illuminates: advance

warning is issued, for example when

there is the impending danger of a

collision or the distance to the vehicle

ahead is too small.

DSC, refer to page 162.

DSC Dynamic Stability Control is

deactivated or DTC Dynamic Traction

Control is activated

Increase the distance.

Indicator light flashes: acute warning of the

imminent danger of a collision when the ve-

hicle approaches another vehicle at a rela-

tively high differential speed.

DSC is deactivated or DTC is acti-

vated.

Intervene by braking or make an evasive

maneuver.

Flat Tire Monitor FTM

Person warning

The FTM signals a loss of tire infla-

tion pressure in a tire.

If a collision with a detected person

is imminent, the symbol lights up

and a signal sounds.

Reduce your speed and stop cau-

tiously. Avoid sudden braking and steering

maneuvers.

Yellow lights

Flat Tire Monitor, refer to page 150.

Antilock Braking System ABS

Tire Pressure Monitor TPM

The indicator light illuminates: the

Tire Pressure Monitor reports a low

tire inflation pressure or a flat tire.

SMS text messages in combination with a

symbol in the instrument cluster explain a

Check Control message and the meaning of

the indicator/warning lights.

Press the button on the turn signal lever.

Continuous display

Supplementary SMS text messages

Some Check Control messages are displayed

continuously and are not cleared until the

malfunction is eliminated. If several mal-

functions occur at once, the messages are

displayed consecutively.

Additional information, such as on the

cause of an error or the required action, can

be called up via Check Control.

With urgent messages the added text will

be automatically displayed on the Control

Display.

The messages can be hidden for approx.

8 seconds. After this time, they are dis-

played again automatically.

Depending on the Check Control message,

further help can be selected.

cient for the planned trip. The range is dy-

namic and can abruptly change.

Warning

Even at temperatures above +37 ℉/+3 ℃

there can be a risk of icy roads, for in-

stance on bridges or shady sections of the

road. There is a risk of accident. Modify

your driving style to the weather condi-

tions at low temperatures.

The range can be abruptly reduced or in-

creased based on the following factors:

mirror clean and clear.

Display

The camera at the base of the interior mir-

ror detects traffic signs at the edge of the

road as well as overhead sign posts. Traffic

signs with extra symbols for wet road con-

ditions, etc., are also detected and compared

with the vehicle's onboard data, such as

Basic displays

General information

Basic functions, such as the state of charge

of the high-voltage battery, can be set to be

displayed continually if so desired.

The warning is repeated if the vehicle speed

exceeds the set speed limit again, after it

has dropped below it by 3 mph/5 km/h.

Event displays

Adjusting

Functions that are only displayed tempora-

rily, for instance the volume or temperature

settings, can be set as event displays.

When switching on, the projection lens of

Head-up Display is retracted again.

The driver can get information without

averting his or her eyes from the road.

When extending and retracting the projec-

tion screen of the Head-up Display, body

parts can be jammed. There is a risk of in-

jury. Make sure that the area of movement

of the projection screen is clear during
