Adaptive recuperation
This chapter describes model-specific
equipment, systems, and functions that are
currently available, or may become available
in the future, even if they are not present in
the vehicle.
Principle
Adaptive recuperation supports an anticipa-
tory and comfort-oriented driving style.
The system decides based on the situation
if energy is recovered through recuperation
or if the vehicle is to coast.
Additional information:
Vehicle equipment, refer to page 8.
In vehicles with mild hybrid technology, the
power of recuperation is adaptive, which
causes the vehicle to decelerate to varying
degrees when coasting.
Reducing fuel consumption
General information
Principle
Various sensors analyze the current driving
situation, e.g., the distance to the vehicle in
front.
The vehicle contains advanced technologies
for the reduction of consumption and emis-
sion values.
Adaptive recuperation is available depend-
ing on the equipment and national-market
version.
There are some actions you can take to
change your fuel consumption and environ-
mental impact:

Remove unnecessary cargo from the ve-
hicle.
Activating/deactivating adaptive
recuperation
Adaptive recuperation is deactivated when
Go Kart Mode is activated.
Remove add-on parts, e.g., a rear carrier,
after use.
Close the windows and glass sunroof
while driving.
Adaptive recuperation is activated when
changing to another driving mode.
Check the tire pressure regularly and in-
crease it as necessary.
Adaptive recuperation can only be used in
selector lever position D.
Switch off the engine if the vehicle is to
remain stationary for a longer period.
Display
Practice anticipatory driving and let the
vehicle coast more often.
Adaptive recuperation can be displayed on
the Interaction Unit.
Deactivate functions that are not re-
quired, e.g., rear window heating.
Additional information:
Power gauge, refer to page 145.
Have the vehicle serviced regularly.
