General settings  
AT A GLANCE  
Due to the many different compression  
techniques, proper playback of the me-  
dia stored on the USB device cannot be  
guaranteed in all cases.  
Compatible iPhone, refer to page 52.  
Corresponding mobile contract.  
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Siri voice control  
are activated on the iPhone.  
To ensure proper transmission of the  
stored data, do not charge a USB device  
via the onboard socket, when it is con-  
nected to the USB port.  
If necessary, the setting for mobile data  
must be activated on the iPhone.  
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled in the  
vehicle.  
Depending on how the USB device is  
being used, settings may be required on  
the USB storage device, refer to the op-  
erating instructions of the device.  
Turning on Bluetooth and CarPlay  
Via the Central Information Display (CID):  
Not compatible USB devices:  
1.  
"My MINI"  
USB hard drives.  
USB hubs.

USB memory card readers with multiple  
slots.  
5. Select the following settings:  
HFS-formatted USB devices.  
Devices such as fans or bulbs.

Pairing the iPhone with CarPlay  
Pairing an iPhone with the vehicle, refer to  
page 53, via Bluetooth  
Connecting the device  
Select CarPlay as the function:  
"Apple CarPlay"  
Connect the USB device using a suitable  
adapter cable to a USB port, refer to  
page 218.  
The iPhone is connected to the vehicle  
and displayed in the device list, refer to  
page 56.  
The USB device is connected to the vehicle  
and displayed in the device list.  
Operation  
Apple CarPlay©  
Principle  
CarPlay allows select functions of a compat-  
ible Apple iPhone to be used via Siri voice  
control and the on-board monitor.

Manual for Navigation, Entertainment, Com-  
munication.  
Frequently Asked Questions  
All prerequisites are met and all required  
steps were completed in the specified order.  
Despite that, the mobile device does not  
function as expected.

set up, CarPlay can no longer be selected.

On the iPhone, delete the vehicle con-  
cerned from the list of stored vehicles  
under Bluetooth and under Wi-Fi.

Configuring the device  
Functions can be activated or deactivated  
for paired and connected devices.  
Pair the iPhone as a new device.  
If the steps listed have been carried out and  
the required function is still not available:  
contact the hotline, an authorized service  
center, or another qualified service center  
or repair shop.

Managing mobile devices  
General information  
4. Select the desired device.  
5. Select the desired setting.  
After one-time pairing, the devices  
are automatically recognized and recon-  
nected when the ignition is switched on.  
If a function is assigned to a device, the  
function will be deactivated where appro-  
priate for a device that is already connected  
and the device will be disconnected.  
The data stored on the SIM card or in  
the mobile phone is transferred to the  
vehicle after recognition.  
Disconnecting the device  
The device's connection to the vehicle is  
disconnected.  
For some devices, certain settings may  
be necessary, for instance authorization,  
see operating instructions of the device.  
The device remains paired and can be con-  
nected again, refer to page 56.  
Displaying the device list  
All devices paired and/or connected with  
the vehicle are displayed in the device list.
