Automatic transmission models cannot
be staꢃed by pushing. This may cause
transmission damage.
4. After starting your engine, carefully discon-
nect the negative cable and then the positive
cable.
COLD tire pressures are shown on the tire
placard affixed to the glove box lid or
driver side center pillar.
3. Tighten the wheel nuts alternately and evenly
in the sequence illustrated (ꢀ - @), more
than 2 times with the wheel nut wrench, until
they are tight.
4. Lower the vehicle slowly until the tire touches
the ground.
Three way catalyst or oxidation catalyst
equipped models should not be staꢃed
by pushing since the catalysts may be
damaged.
5. Replace the vent caps (If so equipped).
A
WARNING:
2. Hold the clutch pedal fully depressed and
shift into second or third gear. Place the
transfer shift lever in 2H and free-running
hubs (if so equipped) in the AUTO or FREE
position.
Retighten the wheel nuts when the vehicle
has been driven for 1,000 km (600 miles)
(also in cases of a flat tire, etc.).
•
Never tꢂ to start the vehicle by towtng
it; when the engine staꢃsꢄ the foꢅard
surge could cause the vehicle to collide
with the tow vehicle.
5. Tighten the wheel nuts securely, with the
wheel nut wrench, in the sequence illus-
trated.

4. Start pushing, and when the vehicle reaches
a speed of about 1 6 km/h (1 0 MPH), turn the
ignition key to ON and slowly release the
clutch pedal to start the engine.
Securely store the spare tire and jacking equip-
ment in the vehicle.

1 . Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Always make sure that the spare tire and
jacking equipment are properly secured
after use. Such items can become danger-
ous projectiles in a serious accident.
1 . Remove vent caps on the battery (If so
equipped). Cover the battery with an old
cloth as shown.
2. Hold the clutch pedal fully depressed and
shift into second or third gear. Place the

2. Connect jumper cables in the sequence as
illustrated.
The wheel nuts must be kept tightened to
specification at all times. It is recom-
mended that the wheel nuts be tightened
to specification at each lubrication interval.
CAUTION:
3. Hold the accelerator pedal about halfway.
An incorrect connection could result in
damage to the charging system.
