REAR DOOR ALERT (if equipped)  
If the battery cable is disconnected, the clock  
will reset its time and the display mode.  
The digital clock (in the center display or in the  
audio unit) displays the time when the ignition  
switch is in the “ON” position.  
The rear door alert system functions under  
certain conditions to indicate there may be an  
object or passenger in the rear seat(s). Check  
the seat(s) before exiting the vehicle. The rear  
door alert system is initially disabled. The driver  
can enable the system using the rear door alert  
switch. (See “Turning the rear door alert system  
ON/OFF” (P.2-59).)  
If sunroof does not operate  
If the sunroof does not operate properly, per-  
form the following procedure to initialize the  
sunroof operation system.  
1. If the sunroof is open, close it fully by

2. Push and hold the switch to the CLOSE  
position.  
3. Release the sunroof switch after the sun-  
roof moves slightly up and down.  
4. Push and hold the switch to the OPEN  
position to fully tilt the sunroof down.  
5. Check if the sunroof switch operates nor-  
mally.  
If the sunroof does not operate properly after  
performing the procedure above, have your  
vehicle checked. It is recommended you visit a  
NISSAN dealer for this service.

TURNING THE REAR DOOR ALERT SYSTEM ON/OFF  
NOTE:

When turning on or off the system, the  
system will retain current settings even if  
the engine is restarted.

If the battery terminal is disconnected  
and connected after the system is turned  
on, the system will be turned off and  
initialized. To use the rear door alert  
system after the battery terminal is dis-  
connected and connected for servicing  
by the customer or a NISSAN dealer, push  
the rear door alert switch to turn on the  
system.  
SYSTEM OPERATION  
When the rear door alert system is activated  
and the driver exits the vehicle after arriving at  
a destination:

When the driver places the vehicle in the “P”  
(Park) position, a message appears in the  
vehicle information display for a driver to  
select “DISMISS MESSAGE” or “DISABLE  
ALERT” if desired.

With the system enabled, when the driver  
exits the vehicle, an audible alert (horn  
sound) will occur unless

opened and closed within a short time to  
deactivate the alert.

When the system is turned ON:

If the doors are locked before the alert is  
deactivated by opening a rear door, the  
horn will sound.  
If the system is activated but the back door  
is opened before opening a rear door, the  
audible horn alert will be delayed until after  
the back door is closed.  
If the audible horn alert occurs, a message  
will also appear in the vehicle information  
display that states, “CHECK BACK SEAT FOR  
.
The system is activated when a rear door is  
opened and closed approximately 10 min-  
utes before the vehicle is started. For  
additional information, refer to “System  
operation” (P.2-59).

To turn on the rear door alert system, push the

If a rear door is opened and closed but the  
vehicle is not started within approximately  
10 minutes, the system will not be acti-  
vated. A rear door must be opened and  
switch indicator light  
will illuminate.  
To turn off the system, push the rear door alert  
switch again. The rear door alert switch in-  
dicator light will go off.

REAR DOOR ALERT SYSTEM

There may be times when there is an  
object or passenger in the rear seat(s) but  
the audible alert does not sound. For  
example, this may occur if the engine is  
turned off and then on again in a short  
period of time during a trip, or if rear seat  
passengers enter or exit the vehicle dur-  
ing a trip.  
The system does not directly detect  
objects or passengers in the rear seat(s).  
Instead, it can detect when a rear door is  
opened and closed, indicating that there  
may be something in the rear seat(s).

NOTE:  
Perform the following steps to temporarily  
disable the rear door alert system.  
1. When the driver places the vehicle in the “P”  
(Park) position, a message appears in the  
vehicle information display for a driver to  
select “DISMISS MESSAGE” or “DISABLE  
ALERT” if desired.  
There may be times when the horn sounds  
but there are no objects or passengers in the  
rear seat(s).  
2. Push the  
switch  
to toggle between  
“DISMISS MESSAGE” and “DISABLE ALERT”.

Using  
switch , a driver can select  
“DISMISS MESSAGE” to clear the display  
for a period of time. If no selection is  
made, this message automatically turns  
off after a period of time.

“DISABLE ALERT” to disable the horn alert  
for the remainder of the current trip.
