Have the tightening torque of the wheel
bolts checked as soon as possible with a
torque wrench. The prescribed torque must
be 120 Nm.
●
If you change the wheel on a slope, block
Wheel change
the wheel on the opposite side of the car with
a stone or similar to prevent the vehicle from
moving.
Preparation work
–
–
–
If you have a flat tyre or puncture, park the
vehicle as far away from the flow of traffic
as possible. Choose a location that is as
level as possible.
Note
●
If you notice that the wheel bolts are corro-
ded and difficult to turn when changing a
wheel, they must be replaced before having
the wheel bolt tightening torque checked.
Changing a wheel
Change the wheel as described below:
All vehicle occupants should leave the ve-
hicle. They should wait in a safe area (for
instance behind the roadside crash barri-
er).
–
–
–
Remove the hub caps or the integral trim.
Slacken the wheel bolts.
●
For safety reasons, drive at moderate
speeds until the wheel bolt tightening torque
has been checked.
Raise the vehicle with the jack at the corre-
sponding area.
Switch the engine off. Switch the hazard
warning lights on and place the warning tri-
angles in position.

en the anti-theft wheel bolts.
Loosening the wheel bolts
WARNING
Loosen the wheel bolts (only about one turn)
before raising the vehicle with the jack, oth-
erwise there is a risk of accident.
Note
●
If the wheel bolt is very tight, you may be
able to loosen it by pushing the end of the
spanner down carefully with your foot. Hold
on to the vehicle for support and take care
not to slip.

In order to remove the wheel, the vehicle
must be raised with a jack.
The wheel bolts must be loosened before
raising the vehicle.
–
Locate the jacking point under the door sill
closest to the punctured wheel ››› Fig. 160.

Emergencies
–
–
–
Place the jack under the jacking point and
turn the crank until the arm of the jack is di-
rectly below the vertical rib under the door
sill.
Removing and fitting the wheel
Anti-theft wheel bolts*
Change the wheel as described below after
loosening the wheel bolts and raising the ve-
hicle with the jack.
Align the jack so that the arm of the jack
fits around the rib under the door sill and
the movable base plate of the jack is flat on
the ground ››› Fig. 161.
Removing a wheel
–
Unscrew the wheel bolts using the box
spanner and place them on a clean surface.
Raise the vehicle until the defective wheel
is just clear of the ground.
Fitting a wheel
Recesses at the front and rear of the door
sills mark the jacking points ››› Fig. 160.
There is only one jacking point for each
wheel. Do not fit the jack anywhere else.
–
Screw on the wheel bolts in position and
tighten them loosely with a box spanner.
Fig. 162 Anti-theft wheel bolt with cap and
adapter.
The wheel bolts should be clean and easily
screwed. Before fitting the spare wheel, in-
spect the wheel condition and hub mounting
surfaces. These surfaces must be clean be-
fore fitting the wheel.
A special adapter is required to turn the anti-
theft wheel bolts. This is found in the tool
box.
An unstable surface under the jack may
cause the vehicle to slip off the jack. There-
fore, it must be fitted on solid ground offer-
ing good support. Use a large and stable
base, if necessary. On a hard, slippery sur-
face (such as tile) use a rubber mat or similar
to prevent the jack from slipping.
–
–
–
Insert the adapter onto the wheel bolt and
push it on as far as it will go ››› Fig. 162.
If tyres with a specific direction of rotation
are fitted, note the direction of rotation.
Fit the box spanner as far as it will go over
the adapter.
Loosen or tighten the wheel bolt as appro-
priate.
WARNING
●
Take all precautions so that the base of the
Code
jack does not slip. Failure to follow this in-
struction could result in an accident.
The code number of the anti-theft wheel bolt
is stamped onto the front part of the adaptor.
●
The vehicle can be damaged if the jack is
not applied at the correct jacking points.
There is also a risk of injury since the jack can
slip off suddenly if it is not properly engaged.
The code number should be noted and kept
in a safe place, as it is only by using the code
number that a duplicate adaptor can be ob-
tained from SEAT Official Services.

Advice
4 mm in diameter. Do not remove foreign ob-
jects, e.g. screws or nails, from the tyre.
Tyres with directional tread pattern
●
Ensure the ground on which you park is flat
and solid.
A directional tread pattern can be identified
by arrows on the sidewall that point in the di-
rection of rotation. Always note the direction
of rotation indicated when fitting the wheel.
This is important so that these tyres can give
maximum grip and avoid excessive noise,
tread wear and aquaplaning.
●
All passengers and particularly children
must keep a safe distance from the work area.
After inserting the sealant residue in the tyre,
you must again check the tyre pressure about
10 minutes after starting the engine.
●
Turn on the hazard warning lights to warn
other road users.
You should only use the tire mobility set if
the vehicle is parked in a safe place, you are
familiar with the procedure and you have the
necessary tire mobility set! Otherwise, you
should seek professional assistance.
●
Use the tyre mobility system only if you are
familiar with the necessary procedures. Oth-
erwise, you should seek professional assis-
tance.
If, in an emergency, you have to mount the
spare wheel so it rotates in the wrong direc-
tion, you must drive extremely carefully. The
tyre will not give optimum performance. This
is particularly important when driving on wet
roads.
●
The tyre mobility set is intended for tempo-
rary emergency use only until you can reach
the nearest specialised workshop.
The tyre sealant must not be used in the
following cases:
●
Replace the repaired tyre with the tire mo-
●
If the wheel rim has been damaged.
In outside temperatures below -20 °C
bility set as soon as possible.
●
●
To benefit from the advantages of tyres with
this type of tread pattern, the defective tyre
should be replaced as soon as possible so
that all tyres again rotate in the correct direc-
tion.
The sealant is a health hazard and must be
(-4 °F).
cleaned immediately if it comes into contact
with the skin.
●
In the event of cuts or perforations in the
tyre greater than 4 mm.
●
Always keep the tire mobility set out of the
reach of small children.
●
If you have been driving with very low pres-
sure or a completely flat tyre.
●
Never use an equivalent jack, even if it has
been approved for your vehicle.
●
If the sealant bottle has passed its use by
date.
●
Always stop the engine, apply the hand-
Tyre repair
brake lever firmly and engage gear if using a
manual gearbox, in order to reduce the risk of
vehicle involuntary movement.
WARNING
TMS (Tyre Mobility System)*
Using the tyre mobility system can be dan-
gerous, especially when filling the tyre at the
roadside. Please observe the following rules
to minimise the risk of injury:
Read the additional information carefully
WARNING
›››
page 26
A tyre filled with sealant does not have the
same performance properties as a conven-
tional tyre.
The Anti-puncture kit* (Tyre Mobility System)
will reliably seal punctures caused by the
penetration of a foreign body of up to about
●
Stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible.
Park it at a safe distance from surrounding
traffic to fill the tyre.
●
Never drive faster than 80 km/h (50 mph).
