OTHER EQUIPMENT
Rear view monitor system
(vehicles with navigation
system)
ing assist-sensor may be malfunctioning.
Have it checked by your Toyota dealer.
The rear view monitor system assists the
driver by displaying an image of the view
behind the vehicle while reversing.
The image is reversed on the screen, al-
lowing for a view similar to that of a rear-
view mirror.
To display the rear view image on the
screen, place the selector lever in the “R”
position when the ignition switch is set to
ON.
If you move the selector lever out of the “R”
position, the display returns to the previous
screen. Operating another function of the
navigation system will display another
screen.
The rear view monitor system is a supple-
mental device intended to assist in reversing
the vehe safely. When reversing, be sure
to chck behind and all around the vehicle
visually.
(b) When the sensor is malfunctioning
If the sensor cable is broken and the park-
ing assist-sensor cannot detect the object
properly, the above message appears. At
this time, the indicator bars correspond-
ing to the faulty sensor flash for about 7
seconds and 2 beeps sound 5 times.
CAUTION
The indicator bars continue lighting after
flashing.
D To avoid an accident, always conduct
a visual check behind and all around
your vehicle and use the mirrors be-
fore and when reversing in addition to
using the rear monitor system.

the right rear of the vehicle malfunctioning.
If this message appears, have the parking as-
sist-sensor checked by your Toyota dealer.
This is because the system is
a
device to supplement, not replace,
other measures to assist with safe
reversing.

your parking assist-sensor system in
the following cases which indicate the
system is malfunctioning:
D To avoid an accident, never reverse
while looking only at the rear view mo-
nitor screen. This is because the
image on the screen is different from
actual conditions and depicted dis-
tances between objects and flat sur-
faces differ from actual distances.
D The message CHECK SONAR appears
as shown above.
D The indicator in the instrument
cluster does not come on and a beep
does not sound even when the parking
assist-sensor main switch is turned
on.
