When the automatic light control function

is switched on, the system switches

between daytime running lights and

headlights automatically depending on

the external lighting conditions and

information given by the wiper system.

To activate or deactivate the high beam,

pull the lever two times.

Fault

If the system does not work properly or is

not available, e.g. during the initialisation,

High Beam Assist

The system switches from low beam to

high beam and vice versa to prevent

glaring. Once activated, high beam assist

remains active and switches high beam

on and off depending on surrounding

conditions. The latest setting of the high

beam assist will remain set after the

ignition is switched on again.

drives on the opposite side of the

road, the headlights do not have to be

adjusted.

Daytime Running Lights

Daytime running lights increase visibility

of the vehicle during daylight.

To adapt headlight range to the vehicle

load to prevent dazzling: turn thumb

Headlight Flash

When braking in an emergency, the

hazard warning flashers are switched on

automatically, depending on the force

of deceleration. They are switched off

automatically, as soon as the vehicle is

accelerated again.

indicator lever briefly without passing the

resistance point.

Rear Fog Light

Depending on version:

Front Fog Lights

Push the switch up to switch on the rear

fog light.

down left turn light

Push the switch down to switch off the

rear fog light.

A resistance point can be felt when

moving the indicator lever.

Push the switch up once to switch on the

front fog lights.

Constant flashing is activated when the

indicator lever is being moved beyond

the resistance point. It is deactivated

when the steering wheel is moved in

the opposite direction or indicator lever

is manually moved back to its neutral

position. After 20 seconds the volume

of the audible signal will increase if the

speed is above 50 mph.

Push the switch down once to switch off

the front fog lights.

Light switch in position AUTO: switching

on front fog lights will switch headlights

on automatically.

The fog lights should only be used in very

bad visibility conditions like fog, snow or

heavy rain.

Activate temporary flashing by holding

the indicator lever just before the

rear fog light.

Fault in LED headlight system

When the system detects a failure in

the LED headlight system, a warning is

displayed on the cluster.

Push the switch down twice to switch off

the rear fog light.

Light switch in position AUTO: switching

on rear fog light will switch headlights on

automatically.

Parking Lights

The vehicle rear fog light is deactivated

when towing a trailer or a plug is

connected with the socket, e.g. when a

bicycle carrier is used.

LED Headlights

AUTO

Eco-LED and uplevel-LED headlights

for low and high beam ensure better

visibility under all conditions. Uplevel

LED headlights include the following

functions:

When turning off, depending on the

steering angle and the turn light,

Cornering light

When the vehicle is parked, the parking

lights on one side can be activated:

To assist driver's orientation when

parking, both cornering lights and

reversing lightilluminate when headlights

are activated and reverse gear is

engaged. They remain illuminated for a

short time after disengaging reverse gear

or until driving faster than 5 mph in a

forward gear.

1. Switch off the ignition.

2. Move the lever all the way up (right

parking lights) or down (left parking

Automatic headlight levelling

Note

To prevent oncoming traffic from

being dazzled, headlight levelling is

automatically adjusted.

The parking lights stay on, until ignition

Leave the switch to its middle position:

Press the switch on the right: ON

Press the switch on the left: OFF

Misted Light Covers

The inside of the light housing may mist

up briefly in poor, wet and cold weather

conditions, in heavy rain or after washing.

The mist disappears quickly by itself. To

help, switch on the headlights.

Rear reading lights

Activation, deactivation and the duration

of the function are set via the vehicle

settings menu on the cluster.

The function can also be activated or

deactivated by pulling the lever with the

ignition off.

The lighting switches off immediately

when the ignition is switched on.

Vehicle Locator Lighting

locate the vehicle, e.g., in weak lighting

conditions, using the remote control.

The headlights come on and the turn

lights flash for ten seconds.

switch on when the driver's door is

opened:

● illumination of some switches

● cluster

● door pocket lights

To prevent discharge of the vehicle

battery when the ignition is switched

off, some interior lights are switched off

automatically after some time.

Centre Console Lighting

A spotlight integrated in the overhead

console illuminates the centre console

when the headlights are switched on.

Exit Lighting

The following lights are switched on if the

ignition is switched off:

Welcome lighting

● interior lights

● centre console lighting

They will switch off automatically after a

delay.

This function works only in the dark.

Some or all of the following lights are

switched on for a short time by unlocking

the vehicle:

● headlights

● tail lights
