Driving and operating
On vehicles equipped with radar
sensor and front camera, the active
emergency braking operates from
5 km/h to 140 km/h when a moving
vehicle has been detected.
applies limited braking to reduce the
impact speed of the collision or
prohibit a crash.
If active emergency braking is
applied, m flashes in the Driver
Information Centre. If active
emergency braking is finished, m
flashes for a few seconds. During this
time, active emergency braking
cannot be applied if there is a risk of
a further collision.
Keep the brake pedal depressed
to prevent the vehicle from
starting off again.
Manual transmission: If the
vehicle comes to a complete
stop, the engine may stall. Keep
the brake pedal depressed to
prevent the vehicle from rolling
away.

Brake preparation system
Depending on version, below a speed
of 30 km/h or 50 km/h, emergency
automatic braking may slow down the
vehicle to a complete stop. If the
speed exceeds this limit, emergency
automatic braking reduces the speed.
However, the driver must apply the
brake to come to a complete stop.
When approaching a vehicle ahead
or a pedestrian so quickly that a
collision is likely, the brake
preparation system slightly
pressurises the brakes. This reduces
the response time, when braking is
requested.

the surroundings permit.
9 Warning
The pressurisation of the brakes may
produce a noise in the brake system.
