3. The ECM controls the injector current to a target
value by modulating the voltage applied.
1. The capacitors needed to elevate battery voltage
to ~60 volts are charged.
Once it is opened, the injector needle can be held
in position with lower solenoid current.
2. Injector opens: ~60 volts for ~200 microseconds.
– It takes a lot of power to open the injector
