Driving stability control systems -> DSC Dynamic Stability Control for Your BMW X6 4 Door Second Generation (2015-2019)

Driving stability control systems
Controls
Depending on the situation, the drive torque is
shifted from the wheel on the inside of the
curve to the wheel on the outside of the curve
or vice-versa.
not independently react to all traffic situations.
There is a risk of an accident. Adjust driving
style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic closely
and actively intervene where appropriate.◀
To increase the maneuverability, the rear
wheel on the outside of the curve is acceler‐
ated when a sporty driving style is used.
WARNING
When driving with roof load, e.g., with
roof-mounted luggage rack, driving safety may
not be ensured in driving-critical situations due
to the elevated center of gravity. There is a risk
of accidents or risk of property damage. Do not
deactivate Dynamic Stability Control DSC
when driving with roof load.◀
The steering responds directly; simultane‐
ously, the understeering tendency of the four-
wheel drive is reduced.
With the oversteering tendency, the system
exerts a stabilizing effect by accelerating the
rear wheel on the inside of the curve.
The system noticeably improves the traction
and simultaneously increases the driving
safety, especially on road surfaces having fluc‐
tuating coefficients of friction.

DSC Dynamic Stability
Control
Concept
Within the physical limits, the system helps to
keep the vehicle on a steady course by reduc‐
ing engine speed and by applying brakes to
the individual wheels.

General information
DSC detects the following unstable driving
conditions, for instance:
Indicator/warning lights
The indicator lamp flashes: DSC con‐
trols the drive and braking forces.
Fishtailing, which can lead to oversteering.
The indicator lamp lights up: DSC has
malfunctioned.
Loss of traction of the front wheels, which
can lead to understeering.
Dynamic Traction Control DTC, refer to
page 146, is a version of the DSC where for‐
ward momentum is optimized.
Deactivating DSC: DSC OFF
When DSC is deactivated, driving stability is
reduced during acceleration and when driving
in curves.
Safety information
To increase vehicle stability, activate DSC
again as soon as possible.
WARNING
The system does not relieve from per‐
sonal responsibility to assess the traffic situa‐
tion. Based on the limits of the system, it can‐

DTC Dynamic Traction
Control
Concept
xDrive
DTC is a version of the DSC Dynamic Stability
Control where forward momentum is opti‐
mized.
xDrive is the all-wheel-drive system of your ve‐
hicle. Concerted action by the xDrive and DSC
Dynamic Stability Control further optimizes
traction and driving dynamics. The xDrive all-
wheel-drive system variably distributes the
drive forces to the front and rear axles as de‐
manded by the driving situation and road sur‐
face.
The system ensures maximum headway on
special road conditions or loose road surfaces,
for instance unplowed snowy roads, but with
somewhat limited driving stability.
When DTC is activated, the vehicle has maxi‐
mum traction. Driving stability is limited during
acceleration and when driving in curves.
Display on the Control Display
Drive carefully.
You may find it useful to briefly activate DTC
under the following special circumstances:
