TYRE REPAIR
PROCEDURE
Preliminary operations:
Stop the car in a position that is not
dangerous for oncoming traffic where
you can change the wheel safely. The
ground must be flat and sufficiently
compact;
157
F0S2074
remove the cap from the tyre valve
and connect and screw the transparent
tube of the sealant (4) fig. 157 onto the
valve. If a 250 ml cartridge is present
the housing of the transparent tube
is provided with removable ring to
facilitate extraction. Make sure that the
ON/OFF button (5) fig. 158 is in the off
position (button not pressed);
stop the engine and engage the
parking brake;
st
engage 1 gear if the car is uphill, or
reverse if the car downhill;
steer the wheels completely;
in the event of a steep slope, place a
wedge or stone behind the wheels;
Wear the reflective safety jacket
(compulsory by law) before getting
out of the car. In any case, follow the
road safety laws in force in the country
where you are driving;
5
wear the gloves.

also in this case, the pressure is lower
than 1.8 bar / 26 psi 15 minutes after

valve proceed with the procedure
for restoring pressure after repair
described in the following paragraph.
147) The information required by the
applicable regulation is indicated on the
Fix&Go kit package label. Carefully read
the label on the cartridge before use, avoid
improper use. The kit should be used by
adults and cannot be used by children.
148) IMPORTANT: Do not exceed
80 km/h. Avoid sudden acceleration or
braking. The kit provides a temporary
repair, therefore the tyre must be
examined and repaired by a specialist as
soon as possible. Before using the kit,
ensure that the tyre is not excessively
damaged and that the rim is in good
condition, otherwise do not use it and
call roadside assistance. Do not remove

Procedure for restoring
pressure after repair
Move the car by approximately 10 m
to allow the distribution of the sealant;
secure the car following the
instructions described in the
"Preliminary operations" paragraph in
this chapter;
Use only in the event of a puncture.
Do not use to inflate tyre that is not
punctured.
remove the cap from the tyre valve
and connect and screw the transparent
tube of the sealant (4) fig. 160 onto
the valve. Make sure that the ON/OFF
button (5) fig. 158 is in the off position
(button not pressed);
restore the pressure using the
black inflation tube (9) fig. 157 for the
OPT1 version or the inflation tube (4)

provided) or electrical system of the
car could be damaged. Do not attempt
jump starting if the conventional battery
is frozen. The conventional battery
could break or explode!
JUMP STARTING
foreign bodies from the tyre. Do not let the
compressor turned on for more than 20
consecutive minutes - overheating hazard.
149) The compressor in the kit MAY NOT
BE USED for purposes other than tyre
repair.
150) 151) 152)
WARNING If the procedure below is
carried out incorrectly, it can cause
severe injury to people or damage the
recharging system of one or both cars.
Carefully follow the instructions given
below.

IMPORTANT
48) The sealant fluid is effective with
external temperatures from -40°C to
+50°C. The sealant fluid has an expiry date
and must be replaced periodically. It is
possible to repair tyres with damage on
the tread up to a maximum diameter of
6 mm. Show the cartridge and the label to
the personnel who must handle the tyre
treated with the TireKit.
If the traditional battery is flat, it is
possible to start the engine using an
auxiliary battery with the same capacity
or a little higher than the flat one.
To start, proceed as follows in the
numerical order shown in fig. 161:
connect the positive terminals (+
mark near the terminal) of the two
traditional batteries using a suitable
lead;
with a second cable, connect
the negative terminal () of the
supplementary battery to an earth point
on the engine or gearbox of the car to
be started as shown in fig. 161;
if another vehicle is ready for jump
starting, park the vehicle within the
reach of the cables to be used for
starting, operate the handbrake
and make sure that the ignition is
deactivated.
WARNING The positive terminal (+) of
the conventional battery is shielded
by a protective cover. Lift the cover to
access the positive terminal.
Proceed as follows:
engage the handbrake, shift the gear
lever into neutral and turn the ignition
key to the STOP position;
switch off all the other electrical
devices in the car;
if another vehicle is ready for jump
starting, park the vehicle within the
reach of the cables to be used for
starting, operate the handbrake
and make sure that the ignition is
deactivated.
JUMP STARTING
If the conventional battery is flat, jump
starting can be performed using cables
and the conventional battery of another
car, or using a supplementary lead
battery.
Jump starting may be dangerous if
carried out incorrectly: carefully follow
the procedures described below.
WARNINGS
Do not use the auxiliary battery or
any other external power source
with a voltage higher than 12 V:
the conventional battery, starter (for
versions/markets, where provided),
alternator (for versions/markets, where
WARNING Avoid contact between the
two vehicles since this could cause a
connection to earth and may result in
serious injury to any people nearby.
