IN AN EMERGENCY -> Jump Starting for Your Fiat Panda SUV Fourth Generation (2024-2026)

provided) or electrical system of the
car could be damaged. Do not attempt
jump starting if the conventional battery
is frozen. The conventional battery
could break or explode!
JUMP STARTING
foreign bodies from the tyre. Do not let the
compressor turned on for more than 20
consecutive minutes - overheating hazard.
149) The compressor in the kit MAY NOT
BE USED for purposes other than tyre
repair.
150) 151) 152)
WARNING If the procedure below is
carried out incorrectly, it can cause
severe injury to people or damage the
recharging system of one or both cars.
Carefully follow the instructions given
below.

IMPORTANT
48) The sealant fluid is effective with
external temperatures from -40°C to
+50°C. The sealant fluid has an expiry date
and must be replaced periodically. It is
possible to repair tyres with damage on
the tread up to a maximum diameter of
6 mm. Show the cartridge and the label to
the personnel who must handle the tyre
treated with the TireKit.
If the traditional battery is flat, it is
possible to start the engine using an
auxiliary battery with the same capacity
or a little higher than the flat one.
To start, proceed as follows in the
numerical order shown in fig. 161:
connect the positive terminals (+
mark near the terminal) of the two
traditional batteries using a suitable
lead;
with a second cable, connect
the negative terminal () of the
supplementary battery to an earth point
on the engine or gearbox of the car to
be started as shown in fig. 161;
if another vehicle is ready for jump
starting, park the vehicle within the
reach of the cables to be used for
starting, operate the handbrake
and make sure that the ignition is
deactivated.
WARNING The positive terminal (+) of
the conventional battery is shielded
by a protective cover. Lift the cover to
access the positive terminal.
Proceed as follows:
engage the handbrake, shift the gear
lever into neutral and turn the ignition
key to the STOP position;
switch off all the other electrical
devices in the car;
if another vehicle is ready for jump
starting, park the vehicle within the
reach of the cables to be used for
starting, operate the handbrake
and make sure that the ignition is
deactivated.
JUMP STARTING
If the conventional battery is flat, jump
starting can be performed using cables
and the conventional battery of another
car, or using a supplementary lead
battery.
Jump starting may be dangerous if
carried out incorrectly: carefully follow
the procedures described below.
WARNINGS
Do not use the auxiliary battery or
any other external power source
with a voltage higher than 12 V:
the conventional battery, starter (for
versions/markets, where provided),
alternator (for versions/markets, where
WARNING Avoid contact between the
two vehicles since this could cause a
connection to earth and may result in
serious injury to any people nearby.
start the engine;
135
car power sockets draw current even if
they are not used. These devices, if left
connected too much time with engine
off, may cause the conventional battery
to drain with following reduction of its
life and/or failure to start the engine.
when the engine has been started,
remove the leads reversing the order
above.
Sparks could ignite explosive gas
released from the traditional battery. If
the supplementary battery is installed
on another car, prevent accidental
contact between metal parts of the two
cars.
BUMP STARTING
Cable disconnection
Never, under any circumstances, jump
start the engine by pushing, towing or
coasting downhill.
Once the engine has been started,
remove the cables proceeding as
follows:
disconnect the end of the cable used
for negative (-) from the engine earth
of the vehicle with flat conventional
battery.
disconnect the other end of the cable
used for negative () from the negative
terminal () of the supplementary
battery;
WARNING Remember that the brake
servo and electric power steering are
not active until the engine is started.
A much greater effort will therefore be
required to use the brake pedal or turn
the steering wheel.
disconnect the end of the cable
used for positive (+) from the positive
terminal (+) of the supplementary
battery;
disconnect one end of the cable
used for positive (+) from the positive
terminal (+) of the car with flat
conventional battery.

150) This starting procedure must be
performed by expert personnel because
incorrect actions could cause electrical
discharge of considerable intensity.
Furthermore, conventional battery fluid is
poisonous and corrosive: avoid contact
with skin and eyes. Keep naked flames
and lighted cigarettes away from the
conventional battery and do not cause
sparks.
For versions with Start&Stop system,
in case of starting by booster battery,
refer to the “Start&Stop system”
paragraph in the “Starting and driving”
section.
If it is often necessary to perform
a jump starting, have the car's
conventional battery and the recharging
system checked by a Fiat Dealership.
If after a few attempts the engine does
not start, do not persist but contact a
Fiat Dealership.
151) Remove any metal objects (e.g. rings,
watches, bracelets), that might cause an
accidental electrical contact and cause
serious injury.
WARNING Any accessories (e.g.
mobile phones, etc.) connected to the
WARNING Do not directly connect the
negative terminals of the two batteries.
136
activate the left direction indicator;
deactivate the left direction indicator;
turn the ignition key to STOP and
then to MAR.
FUEL CUT-OFF
SYSTEM
152) Do not connect the cable to the
negative terminal (-) of the flat conventional
battery. The following spark could lead to
conventional battery explosion and cause
serious harm. Only use the specific earth
point; do not use any other exposed
metallic part.
153)
This intervenes in the case of a collision
causing:
LPG versions (where provided): in
the event of an impact, petrol supply
is immediately cut-off, the LPG safety
valves are closed and the injection is
interrupted, switching off the engine.
the interruption of the fuel supply with
the engine consequently cutting out;
the automatic unlocking of the doors;
turning on the lights inside the car;
the switching on of the hazard
warning lights;
automatic disconnection of the
auxiliary battery from the electrical
system.
IMPORTANT
49) Do not start the car by connecting
the supplementary battery to the auxiliary
lithium battery for the hybrid system under
the front left seat, but connect it to the
battery in the engine compartment only.
50) Never use a fast conventional battery
charger to jump start the engine as this
could damage the electronic systems,
particularly the engine ignition and fuel
supply control units.
WARNING (for the 1.0 FireFly Hybrid
versions) The auxiliary lithium battery
can only be reconnected to the
electrical system by a Fiat Dealership.
NOTE Carefully check the car for
fuel leaks, for instance in the engine
compartment, under the car or near
the tank area. After a collision, turn the
ignition key to STOP to prevent the
conventional battery from running
down.
WARNING
153) If, after an impact, you smell fuel or
notice leaks from the fuel system, do not
reactivate the system to avoid the risk of
fire.
To restore the correct operation of the
vehicle, proceed as follows:
turn the ignition key to the MAR
position;
activate the right direction indicator;
deactivate the right direction
indicator;
activate the left direction indicator;
deactivate the left direction indicator;
activate the right direction indicator;
deactivate the right direction
indicator;
