With the Park Distance Control display  
and various camera views, the parking as-  
sistance systems help to park, maneuver,  
and reverse the vehicle. Parking assistance  
systems are operated using the Park Assist  
key or via the Parking menu.

The status of the parking assistance sys-  
tems is indicated by the icons at the bottom  
of the Interaction Unit, near the driving in-  
formation, and on the Head-up display, de-  
pending on vehicle equipment. In addition  
to this icon, supplementary text appears at  
the bottom of the Interaction Unit.  
Green: A parking assistance sys-  
tem is on. Functions are control-  
led depending on the system ac-  
tivated.

Pathway lines  
1. Position the vehicle so that the red turn-  
ing circle line leads into the boundaries  
of the parking space.  
2. Turn the steering wheel so that the  
green pathway line covers the corre-  
sponding turning circle line.  
Obstacle marking  
The pathway lines help to estimate the re-  
quired space when parking and maneuver-  
ing on level roads.  
Depending on engaged gear position, the  
Interaction Unit camera view provides path-  
way lines in front of or behind the vehicle.  
The pathway lines are continuously ad-  
justed to the steering movements depend-  
ing on the steering-wheel angle.  
The sensors detect obstacles when parking.  
Obstacles detected by Park Distance Control  
are shown and marked in the camera view  
on the Interaction Unit.  
Turning circle lines  
Colored gradients for the obstacle markings  
in green, yellow and red indicate the distan-  
ces.  
Functional limitations  
The parking assistance systems can only be  
used to a limited extent in the following  
situations:

With a door open.  
With open cargo area.  
With exterior mirrors folded in.  
The Interaction Unit camera view includes  
turning circle lines that show the path with  
the smallest possible turning circle on a  
level road.  
Areas with gray hatching with an icon in  
the camera image identify areas that are  
currently not shown such as an open door.  
Only one turning circle line is displayed  
after the steering wheel is turned past a  
certain angle.  
Turning circle lines can only be superim-  
posed on the camera image together with  
pathway lines.

The malfunctioning camera's detection  
range is shaded.

Because of system limitations, this system  
may either not respond, or respond too  
late, incorrectly, or without cause. There  
is a risk of accident, injury, or property  
damage. Actively intervene as warranted.  
Refer to the information in this Owner’s  
Manual regarding the scope of the sys-  
tem’s operation and limitations.  
Principle  
The rearview camera helps when reverse  
parking and maneuvering. The area behind  
the vehicle is shown in the camera view on  
the Interaction Unit. The rearview camera  
turns on when reversing and can be oper-  
ated via the Interaction Unit or Park Assist  
key.  
Additional displays can be shown on the  
camera view, e.g., parking assistance lines  
and obstacle markings.  
System limits of the sensors  
Parking assistance systems may be re-  
stricted by the system limits of the sensors.

Field of view  
Functional requirements  
The following functional requirements apply  
for the rearview camera:  
Because of the camera angle, the areas un-  
der the vehicle cannot be viewed by the  
cameras.

The trunk is fully closed.  
Detection of objects  
The camera area is clean and clear.  
The sensors may not detect very low obsta-  
cles as well as high, protruding objects, e.g.,  
wall ledges.  
Turning the rearview camera  
on/off  
Objects shown on the Interaction Unit may  
be closer than they appear. Do not estimate  
the distance to objects shown on the Inter-  
action Unit.  
Turning the camera view on  
automatically  
The rearview camera is automatically  
turned on if selector lever position R is en-  
gaged while drive-ready state is on.  
The camera's detection range can be limited  
by protruding cargo, a rear carrier, or a  
trailer.  
Turning the camera view off  
automatically  
The rearview camera turns off automatically  
when driving forward or when a certain dis-  
tance or speed is exceeded.  
Malfunction  
A camera failure is indicated on the Interac-  
tion Unit.

Automatic camera perspective  
To exit rearview camera view, select an-  
other camera view in the selection window  
or press the Park Assist key again.  
Principle  
The automatic camera perspective shows a  
steering-dependent view in the respective  
driving direction. This perspective adapts to  
the respective driving situation.  
Deactivated rearview camera  
When the rearview camera is deactivated,  
for instance when the trunk is open, the  
camera image is displayed with gray shad-  
ing.  
As soon as obstacles are detected, the view  
changes to a fixed display of the area in  
front of or behind the bumper, or switches  
to side Park Distance Control as necessary.  
The side Park Distance Control is automat-  
ically displayed when the automatic cam-  
era perspective is turned on. The function  
shows obstacles located next to the vehicle.  
Semi-automatic camera per-  
spective  
The camera perspective can be turned  
on/off using the Interaction Unit.  
Principle  
Depending on the parking direction and en-  
gaged selector lever position, the semi-au-  
tomatic camera perspective shows a fixed  
camera perspective with the areas in front  
of or behind the vehicle.

The camera perspective can be turned  
on/off using the Interaction Unit.

perspective on/off

Turning the camera view on/off  
automatically  
When the parking assistance systems' dis-  
play is turned on, automatic camera per-  
spective is selected automatically.  
The icon for automatic camera perspec-  
tive is automatically selected in the selec-  
tion window.  
To protect the sides of the vehicle, obstacle  
markings are displayed on the sides of the  
vehicle.  
To exit the steering-dependent camera  
view, select another camera view in the se-  
lection window.  
Colored obstacle markings warn the driver  
when obstacles have been detected.  
When reverse gear is engaged, the auto-  
matic camera perspective is, if necessary,  
exited and the system uses a semi-auto-  
matic camera perspective to the rear. If  
necessary, select the automatic camera per-  
spective when reverse gear is engaged. The  
automatic camera perspective will then be  
maintained for the current parking opera-  
tion.  
If no obstacle markings are displayed, no  
obstacles have been detected.  
Limits of the side protection  
The Lateral Parking Aid only displays sta-  
tionary obstacles that were previously de-  
tected by the sensors while passing them.  
The system does not detect whether an ob-  
stacle moves later on. For this reason, at  
standstill, the marks are not shown anymore  
in the display after a certain time. The area  
next to the vehicle must be newly captured.  
Turning the camera view on/off  
manually

To turn on automatic camera per-  
spective manually, press the Park Assist  
key on the switch cluster.  
Side view  
The parking assistance systems view is  
displayed.  
Principle

The icon for automatic camera per-  
spective is automatically selected in the  
selection window.  
Side view shows the vehicle's side sur-  
roundings, making it easier to position the  
vehicle at the curb or with other obstacles  
on the side.  
To exit the steering-dependent camera  
view, select another camera view in the se-  
lection window or press the Park Assist key  
again.  
The camera view looks from the rear to the  
front and, if there is a hazard, focuses auto-  
matically on potential obstacles.  
The side view can be turned on/off using  
the Interaction Unit.

Turning the side view on/off  
The selection window lets you choose the  
side view for the left or right side of the  
vehicle.  
The parking assistance systems view is  
displayed.  
2. In the upper selection area, select the  
following camera view: "3D".  
To exit 3D view, select another camera view  
from the selection at the top.

Principle  
To exit the side view, select another camera

To make it easier to attach a trailer, you can  
zoom in on the view of the trailer hitch.  
Trailer hitch view can be turned on/off us-  
ing the Interaction Unit.  
3D view  
General information  
Principle  
With 3D view, a circle is displayed around  
the vehicle top view in the selection win-  
dow.  
When zooming in, remember that the view  
may no longer show certain obstacles.  
Follow the information in the "Parking as-  
sistance systems" chapter.  
Fixed perspectives can be selected directly  
on the circular path in the selection win-  
dow, or by swiping the vehicle in the middle  
of the camera image.  
Turning the trailer hitch view  
on/off  
The current perspective is marked with a  
camera icon on the circular path.

To turn on trailer hitch view,  
press the Park Assist key on the switch  
cluster.  
3D view can be turned on/off using the In-  
teraction Unit.  
The parking assistance systems view is  
displayed.

Display  
Display  
Two static circle segments are displayed in  
the camera image. These circle segments  
help to estimate the distance of the trailer  
to the trailer hitch.  
Your own lane is displayed for easier driv-  
ing into a car wash.  
A docking line dependent on the steering-  
wheel angle helps with aiming for the  
trailer with the trailer hitch.  
This view can be used to position the ve-  
hicle correctly within the washing system  
guide rails.  
In a car wash, the vehicle must be able to  
roll freely forward.  
Car wash view  
Additional information:  
Principle  
The car wash view assists when entering a  
car wash.  
Rolling or pushing the vehicle, refer to  
page 124.  
This function can be turned on/off using  
the Interaction Unit.  
Panorama View  
General information  
Principle  
Follow the information in the "Parking as-  
sistance systems" chapter.  
The panoramic view gives you an earlier  
view of crossing traffic at blind driveway  
exits and intersections.  
Turning the car wash view on/off  
Road users concealed by obstacles to the  
left and right of the vehicle can only be de-  
tected relatively late from the driver's seat.  
To provide greater visibility, the front cam-  
era and, depending on vehicle equipment,  
rearview camera cover the side of the vehi-  
cle.

To turn on car wash view, press  
the Park Assist key on the switch clus-  
ter.  
The parking assistance systems view is  
displayed.  
Depending on vehicle equipment, this func-  
tion can be used when reversing or driving  
forward.  
2. In the upper selection area, select the  
following camera view: "Car wash".

the Interaction Unit.  
Display  
Depending on vehicle equipment, this func-  
tion can be activated automatically by sav-  
ing activation points.  
General information  
The camera image shows different levels of  
distortion in some areas and is thus not  
suitable for distance estimations.  
Follow the information in the "Parking as-  
sistance systems" chapter.  
Yellow lines on the screen display identify  
the bumpers of your own vehicle.  
When reverse gear is engaged, the revers-  
ing camera view is displayed. Depending on  
vehicle equipment, the front camera view is  
displayed when forward gear is engaged.

Principle

displayed.  
Up to ten activation points can be saved and  
edited.  
2. In the upper selection area, select the  
following camera view: "Panorama".  
The activation points can be used when  
driving forward and, depending on national-  
market version, when reversing.  
To exit panorama view, select another cam-  
era view from the selection at the top.

Activation points can be renamed or de-  
leted, individually or collectively.

A MINI ID or driver profile must be acti-

The direction of travel, the selector lever  
position, and the vehicle angle must  
match a stored activation point.

A list of all saved activation points is  
displayed.  
Desired activation points can be saved.  
1. Drive your vehicle to the location where  
you want panorama view to switch on  
automatically, then stop.

hold the desired activation point.

To delete an activation point, swipe  
over the desired activation point.

Door opening angle  
3. Go through the menu as follows:  
"Panorama" / "Activation point" / "Save  
activation point".  
Principle  
Depending on vehicle equipment, the door  
opening angle display is shown automati-  
cally when stationary.  
Activation points are saved with the follow-  
ing information, for example:  
This display helps estimate how far the  
doors can be opened when parking.

With the city/town.  
With the city/town and the street.  
A default name.  
If obstacle marking is activated, the parking  
view indicates fixed obstacles that obstruct  
the opening angles of the doors.  
You can rename the location and street in-  
formation created automatically.

The door opening angle view does not warn  
you of approaching road users.

Data transfer must be activated.  
The MINI app must be installed on the  
mobile end device.  
The vehicle's surroundings are distorted in  
the display for technical reasons.

In MINI Connected countries, an exist-  
ing MINI Connected account must be  
used to activate a MINI ID.  
Even if no objects are visible in the door  
opening angle view on the Interaction Unit,  
park carefully when near other objects.

Because of the perspective, higher, protrud-  
ing objects may be closer than they appear  
on the Interaction Unit.  
Activating/deactivating Remote 3D  
View  
Remote 3D View can be activated or deac-  
tivated individually or together with other  
functions.  
Remote 3D View  
Principle  
1. Go through the menu as follows: Apps  
menu / "All" / "Data privacy".  
The MINI app and parking camera views,  
e.g., automatic camera perspective, can be  
used to display the vehicle’s surroundings  
on a mobile device.  
2. Select the desired setting.  
After activating, Remote 3D View can  
be accessed in the MINI app.  
Remote 3D View shows a snapshot of the  
situation.  
Functional limitations  
Remote 3D View may not be fully opera-  
tional or may not be available in the follow-  
ing situations:

For reasons of data protection, Remote  
3D View can only be used three times  
within two hours.

distance or speed is exceeded.  
The intermittent tones and the continuous  
tone are turned off when selector lever posi-  
tion P is engaged.  
Turning the system on/off manually  
To manually turn on Park Distance  
Control, press the Park Assist key on

Adjusting the volume  
If the system is manually switched on when  
the reverse gear is engaged, the rearview

Tap the acoustic warning icon on the

The shorter the distance to the object, the  
shorter the intervals of the intermittent  
tones.  
When the Park Distance Control is switched  
on again, the acoustic warning is automati-  
cally switched on again.  
An acoustic warning sounds in case of an  
impending collision at a distance to the ob-  
ject of approx. 27 in/70 cm.  
Visual warning  
For objects behind the vehicle, the acoustic  
warning is issued as early as a distance to  
the object of approx. 5 ft/1.50 m.

When the distance to a detected object is  
less than approx. 8 in/20 cm, a continuous  
tone is sounded.  
If Park Distance Control is activated, the  
Interaction Unit will indicate when the ve-

were previously detected by the sensors

Park Distance Control does not detect when

is stationary, the gray shaded areas on the  
sides are hidden after a certain time. The  
area on the side of the vehicle must be  
newly captured.

Maneuver Assistant  
Warning  
Principle  
The system cannot serve as a substitute  
for the driver’s personal judgment in as-  
sessing the traffic situation. Based on the  
limits of the system, it cannot independ-  
ently react to all traffic situations. There  
is a risk of accident, injury, or property  
damage. Adjust driving style to traffic con-  
ditions. Watch the surrounding traffic sit-  
uation closely, be ready to take over steer-  
ing and braking at any time, and actively  
intervene where appropriate.  
The Maneuver Assistant provides support  
for recurring parking and maneuvering sit-  
uations.  
Parking and maneuvering operations can be  
recorded and then carried out automatically  
by the system.  
A recurring maneuver is driven manually  
and thereby recorded.  
When the vehicle reaches the activation  
area for the distance covered by the saved  
maneuver, the maneuver can be activated  
on the Interaction Unit.  
After the activation, the system takes con-  
trol of the vehicle and carries out the ma-  
neuver automatically.  
Warning  
When using the trailer hitch, the assis-  
tance system cannot react correctly be-  
cause the sensors are concealed. There  
may be a risk of accidents or risk of dam-  
age to property. Do not use the driver as-  
sistance system while towing a trailer or  
when using the trailer hitch, e.g., for a rear  
bicycle rack.  
In addition, the parking maneuver can be  
performed using Remote Control Parking on  
a smartphone.

General information  
Up to ten maneuvers can be recorded at  
different locations.  
Up to four overlapping maneuvers can be  
recorded.  
Identical maneuvers under different ambi-  
ent conditions can be recorded such as light  
conditions.  
The detection range for a maneuver is div-  
ided into the following areas:  
For each maneuver, a maximum distance  
covered of 656 ft/200 m is possible.  
–
Proximity range, arrow 1: the system  
will begin with the localization in the  
background within a range of approx.  
26 ft/8 m around the distance covered  
of a stored maneuver.  
In total, a distance covered of approx.  
1,969 ft/600 m distributed to the ten possi-  
ble maneuvers can be recorded.  
Maneuvers with a distance covered of less  
than 20 ft/6 m cannot be recorded.

Close range, arrow 2: A saved maneu-  
ver can be displayed on the Interaction  
Unit within a range of approx. 6 ft/2 m  
around the distance covered.  
Recording maneuver  
1. To record a maneuver, drive the vehicle  
to the desired starting point and stop.  
Activation range, arrow 3: The saved  
maneuver can be activated on the Inter-  
action Unit within a range of approx.  
3.5 ft/1 m. After the activation, the sys-  
tem takes control of the vehicle and car-  
ries out the maneuver automatically.

Press the Park Assist key on the  
switch cluster.  
The parking assistance systems view is  
displayed.  
3. Start recording the maneuver using the  
Interaction Unit.

5. Once the vehicle is stopped, save the  
recording using the Interaction Unit and  
rename it as necessary.  
Canceling the Maneuver Assistant  
automatically  
The Maneuver Assistant is canceled auto-  
matically in situations such as the follow-  
ing:  
Do not move the vehicle until the re-  
cording has been stored.  
Performing stored maneuver

When the driver grasps the steering  
wheel or takes over steering.  
1. To perform the stored maneuver, drive  
the vehicle into the activation area  
and stop. The Interaction Unit indicates  
when a saved maneuver can be used.  
When operating the accelerator pedal or

neuver.  
When the driver's seat belt is not fas-  
tened.  
The status symbol for the Maneuver  
Assistant illuminates green. After the  
activation, the system takes control of

Canceling the Maneuver Assistant  
manually  
The vehicle can be controlled manually dur-  
ing an active maneuver by taking the fol-  
lowing actions:  
On snow-covered or slippery road.  
When the lane is too narrow.  
On steep uphill or downhill grades.  
With trailer towing.  
In the event of an automatic cancellation of  
the system, the vehicle is decelerated to a  
complete stop and selector lever position P  
is engaged.

Step lightly on the accelerator pedal  
twice in succession.  
–
Step lightly on the accelerator pedal and  
move the steering wheel slightly at the  
same time.  
An interrupted maneuver can be continued,  
if needed. Restart the Maneuver Assistant  
and follow the instructions on the Interac-  
tion Unit.

Depress the brake pedal and operate the  
selector lever at the same time.

The maneuver is performed independently,  
outside the vehicle, using a smartphone.  
This makes it easy to get in and out of the  
vehicle.  
Editing stored maneuvers  
The Interaction Unit can be used to delete  
or rename maneuvers, individually or collec-  
tively.  
When parking in a suitable spot, e.g., a ga-  
rage, you can correct the parking position  
with Remote Control Parking by maneuver-  
ing slightly.  
System limits

Follow the system limits in the "Parking as-  
sistance systems" chapter.  
A maneuver that has already been started  
can be continued at any time with Remote  
Control Parking.  
Functional limitations  
The Maneuver Assistant does not provide  
support when towing a trailer.

Protect the smartphone against unauthor-

The low-beam headlights are switched on  
for the duration of the maneuver.  
Remote Control Parking  
A parking maneuver offered by Park Assist  
Professional is only available for Remote  
Control Parking for a short time after exit-  
ing the vehicle.  
Principle  
With Remote Control Parking, the vehicle  
can be driven remotely when parking and  
maneuvering using the Maneuver Assistant  
and Park Assist Professional.

Parking with Remote Control

1. To perform the parking maneuver with  
Remote Control Parking, engage selec-  
tor lever position P.  
The Reversing Assistant takes control of  
steering. The driver must control the speed  
using the accelerator and brake pedals.  
2. Leave the vehicle and close the doors  
and cargo area.  
With Back-up Assistant: a maximum dis-  
tance of 164 ft/50 m is saved.  
3. Open Remote Control Parking in the  
MINI app and maneuver forward or  
backward, or select the desired parking  
method.  
With Back-up Assistant Professional: a max-  
imum distance of 656 ft/200 m is saved.  
4. Follow the instructions on the smart-  
phone.
