PARKING
Canceling cruising speed
Use any one of the following methods to cancel the set
speed.
WARNING:
.
.
Do not stop or park the vehicle over
flammable materials such as dry grass,
waste paper or rags. They may ignite and
cause a fire.
.
.
.
Push the CANCEL switch.
Tap the foot brake pedal.
Push the cruise control MAIN switch. The CRUISE
indicator light turns off.
Safe parking procedures require that both
the parking brake be applied and the shift
lever placed in the “P” (Park) position
(Continuously Variable Transmission mod-
els) or the shift lever placed in an appro-
priate gear (Manual Transmission models).
Failure to do so could cause the vehicle to
move unexpectedly or roll away and result in
an accident.
.
When parking the vehicle, make sure the
shift lever is moved to the “P” (Park)
position. The shift lever cannot be moved
out of the “P” (Park) position without
depressing the foot brake pedal (Continu-
ously Variable Transmission models).
.
.
Never leave the engine running while the
vehicle is unattended.
Never leave children or adults who would
normally require the support of others alone
in the vehicle. Pets should not be left alone
either. They could unknowingly activate
switches or controls and inadvertently be-
come involved in a serious accident and
injure themselves. On hot, sunny days,
temperatures in
a
closed vehicle could
quickly become high enough to cause se-
vere or possibly fatal illness to people and
animals.
