The system helps deter vehicle theft but

cannot prevent it, nor can it prevent the

theft of interior or exterior vehicle compo-

nents in all situations. Always secure your

vehicle even if parking for a brief period.

Never leave your keys in the vehicle, and

always lock it when it is left unattended. Be

aware of your surroundings, and park in

secure, well-lit areas whenever possible.

your insurance company to see if you may

be eligible for discounts for various theft

protection features.

How to arm the vehicle security

system

The security status is shown by the secu-

rity indicator light.

• When the battery power level is low,

the system automatically obtains

charging station information.

The system can be armed even if the

windows are open.

The vehicle security system provides visual

and audio alarm signals if someone opens

the doors or rear hatch when the system is

armed. It is not, however, a motion detec-

tion type system that activates when a ve-

hicle is moved or when a vibration occurs.

2. Place the power switch in the LOCK or

OFF position and remove the Intelligent

Key from the vehicle.

The NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System

will not allow the power switch to be placed

in the READY to drive position without the

use of the registered key.

The vehicle security system will give the

following alarm:

• the LOCK

If the power switch fails to place the vehicle

into the READY to drive position using the

registered key, it may be due to interfer-

ence caused by another registered key, an

automated toll road device or automated

payment device on the key ring. Restart the

EV system using the following procedure:

4. Confirm that the security indicator light

illuminates. The security indicator light

stays on for about 30 seconds. The ve-

hicle security system is now pre-armed.

After about 30 seconds the vehicle se-

curity system automatically shifts into

the armed phase. The security light be-

gins to flash once every approximately 3

seconds. If, during this 30-second pre-

arm time period, the door is unlocked, or

the power switch is placed in the ACC or

ON position, the system will not arm.

The alarm is activated by:

• Unlocking the door without using the In-

telligent Key, the request switch or the

key. (Even if the door is opened by releas-

ing the door inside lock knob, the alarm

will activate.)

1. Leave the power switch in the ON posi-

tion for approximately 5 seconds.

• Opening the hood.

2. Place the power switch in the OFF posi-

tion and wait approximately 10 seconds.

How to stop an activated alarm

Even when the driver and/or passengers

are in the vehicle, the system will acti-

vate with all doors locked and the power

switch in the OFF position. When placing

the power switch to the ACC or ON posi-

tion, the system will be released.

Security Indicator Light

For Canada:

The security indicator light is located on

the meter panel. It indicates the status of

the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System.

This device complies with Industry

Canada licence-exempt RSS standard(s).

Operation is subject to the following two

conditions: (1) this device may not cause

interference, and (2) this device must ac-

cept any interference, including interfer-

ence that may cause undesired opera-

tion of the device.

The light blinks after the power switch was

in the ACC or OFF position. This function

indicates the security systems equipped

on the vehicle are operational.

If the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System is

malfunctioning, this light will remain on

while the power switch is in the ON posi-

tion.
