Trip computer and warning  
system  
The following are given on the  
instrument panel display 1:  
- information messages (journey  
parameters etc.),  
- the operating fault messages  
Display selection keys 3 and 4  
Scroll through the following  
information in order or reverse  
order by briefly pressing the key  
repeatedly.  
a) total mileage and trip mileage  
recorder,  
b) journey parameters (depending  
on vehicle):  
(generally linked to the  
warning light),  
- warning messages (linked to the  
- fuel used,  
- average fuel consumption,  
- current fuel consumption,  
- estimated range,  
warning light).  
- distance travelled,  
- average speed,

Interpreting some of the values  
- You may also notice that the  
average  
fuel  
consumption  
displayed after resetting  
increases when the vehicle is  
stationary and the engine idling.  
The values showing average fuel  
consumption, range and average  
3
speed will become more stable and  
reliable the further you travel since  
the last time the reset key was  
pressed.  
This is normal, since the  
computer takes account of fuel  
used during idling.  
For the first few miles after pressing  
the reset key you may notice:  
Automatic resetting of the  
journey parameters  
Resetting occurs automatically  
when the maximum value of any  
of the parameters is exceeded.  
- That the range increases as you  
travel.  
This is normal; average fuel  
consumption may decrease when:

- the vehicle stops accelerating,  
- the engine reaches its operating  
temperature (engine cold when  
reset key pressed),  
- when you enter an urban area  
after driving on the open road.  
Trip mileage reset buttons 3and 4  
To reset the trip mileage recorder,  
select the trip mileage display, then  
press key 3 or 4 until the recorder is  
reset.  
Journey parameter reset buttons

With one of the trip parameters  
selected on the display, press button  
3 or 4 until the display resets.

a) Total mileage and trip mileage recorders.

Fuel consumed since the last reset.  
Average fuel consumption since the last reset.  
This value is displayed after driving 400 metres and takes into account the  
distance travelled and the fuel used since the last time the reset button was  
pressed.

This value is displayed after reaching a speed of approximately 15 mph  
(30 km/h).  
Estimated range with remaining fuel  
24055  
This range takes into account the average fuel consumption since the last  
time the reset button was pressed.  
The value is displayed after driving 400 metres.  
Distance travelled since last reset.  
Average speed since the last reset.  
The value is displayed after driving 400 metres.

c) Mileage before oil change/service  
(Displayed as the oil change mileage approaches.)  
Distance left before the next service.  
There are several scenarios:  
24058  
- range less than 900 miles (1,500 km) or next service recommended  
within two months. The “SERVICE! CHANGE OIL” message is displayed  
Ê
along with the  
symbol (as long as “mileage before service” is displayed,  
or for 15 seconds).  
- mileage before service equal to 0 miles/km or date of service reached.  
Ê
The “SERVICE! CHANGE OIL” message is displayed along with the  
symbol flashing when the “mileage before service” display is selected.  
Resetting the display after service in accordance with the maintenance  
program  
The mileage before oil change/service must only be reset after a service  
complying with the recommendations in the Warranty and Servicing  
booklet. If you decide to change the oil more frequently, do not reset this  
data each time the oil is changed. This prevents the replacement interval  
from being exceeded for other parts included in the maintenance  
program.  
To reset the mileage before oil change/service, press and hold one of the  
display reset buttons for approximately 10 seconds until the display  
shows the mileage permanently.

Information messages  
These can help either in the vehicle starting phase, or give information about a selection or a driving status.  
Examples of information messages are given in the following pages.

Interpretation of messages  
Indicates that the automatic lights function is deactivated.  
"Automatic lights OFF"  
Request to insert the RENAULT card into the reader.  
"Insert card"  
Minimum engine oil level warning: the display informs the driver that the engine oil  
level is low when the engine is started. This warning lasts for 30 seconds. Refer to the  
information on Engine oil level in Section 4.  
"Oil level OK"

Operating fault messages  
You should immediately go to your RENAULT Dealer for work to be carried out on your vehicle. These messages  
appear accompanied by the  
warning light. They disappear when the display selection key is pressed or after

several seconds and are stored in the computer log. The

Interpretation of messages  
ASR Traction Control system deactivated (see the information on ASR Traction  
Control in Section 2).  
"ASR deactivated"  
"Check gearbox"  
Indicates that a fault has occurred in the gearbox; contact your RENAULT Dealer as  
soon as possible.  
Sensor fault on the wheel not shown on the instrument panel: this is the case, for  
example, when the emergency spare wheel is fitted on the vehicle (see the  
information on Tyre pressure monitor in Section 2).  
"Tyre sensor fault"  
"Card not detected"  
The hands-free RENAULT card is not in the detection zone, or the vehicle has not  
been able to detect it. Insert it in the reader, if the fault persists contact your  
RENAULT Dealer.

Indicates that there is water present in the diesel fuel. Contact your RENAULT Dealer  
as soon as possible.  
"Check diesel filter"  
"Change card battery"  
"Check tyre pressure"  
Your RENAULT card battery has a service life of approximately two years.  
This message appears when the battery begins to run flat (refer to RENAULT Card:  
batteries in Section 5).  
Tyre pressure fault (under-inflation) shown on the multifunction display or on the  
instrument panel; correct the tyre pressure as soon as possible.
