Checking the tire pressure
Before checking the radiator, condenser and
intercooler, remove the engine compartment covers.
(See "– Engine Compartment Cover Removal" on
page 361 in Chapter 7–1.)
Maintain proper tire pressure.
Recommended cold tire pressures and tire dimensions
are given on page 418 in chapter 8.
If any of these components is extremely dirty or you are
unsure of its condition, take the vehicle to any authorized
Toyota dealer or workshop, or to another properly qualified
Tire pressure should be checked once every 2 weeks,
but at least once a month. Don't forget the spare wheel

and equipped professional.
Incorrect tire pressure increases fuel consumption,
reduces tire life and driving safety.
WARNING
If the tire requires frequent re-inflation, have it checked
by any authorized Toyota dealer or service center, or
another properly qualified and equipped professional.
When the engine is hot, do not touch the radiator,
condenser or intercooler to avoid burns.
NOTICE
Follow the instructions below to check tire pressure.
Do not carry out any repairs on the cooler,
condenser or intercooler yourself to avoid damaging
them.
• Tire pressure should only be checked
when the tires are cold.
If the vehicle has been parked for at least 3
hours and you have not driven more than 1.5
km since then, your tires will be at the correct
temperature for pressure measurement.
• Always use a pressure gauge to check the
pressure. The appearance of a tire can be deceiving.
A pressure just a few tenths off the correct pressure
can make it difficult for you to control and drive the
vehicle.
• Do not deflate or reduce tire pressure after driving.
It is normal for the pressure to be higher after driving.
• Do not forget to screw on the valve caps. Without
them, dirt or moisture can get into the valves and
cause a leak. If you have lost them, get new ones as
soon as possible.
