9 Warning  
In the vehicle, there are two fuseboxes:  
one in the vehicle interior, below the  
instrument panel, and another in the  
engine bay, in front of the windscreen.  
Electronic ignition systems generate very  
high voltages. Do not touch the ignition  
system; high voltage can be fatal.

We recommend carrying a complete set of  
fuses.  
Put spare fuses in the p rovid ed loca tion in  
the fusebox in the instrument panel  
(marked in yellow in the illustration). Open  
cover – see page 188.  
Before replacing a fuse, turn off the  
respective switch and the ignition.

Alw ays use fuses with the specified rating.  
This is shown on each fuse, and is also  
indicated by the fuse colour and the plug-  
in location in the fusebox.

A defective fuse can be recognized by its  
melted wire. A new fuse should only be  
installed after the cause of the trouble has  
been rectified.  
To helpin replacing fuses, there is a special  
fuse-gripping tool in the fusebox 3.  
Slot fuse-gripping tool onto fuse and  
withdraw it.
