Removing and installing backrest heat‐
ing element [Z116]/[Z117]
Removal and installation are described for one heater element
as an example.
Heated backrest for front left seat - Z116- and heated backrest
for front right seat - Z117- will henceforth be referred to as
“heater element”.
Removing
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 74 ; Separate backrest cover from backrest
padding .

Commercially available hot air blower, setting: 220°C
Distance to be maintained between hot air blower and pad‐
ding must be approx. 30 cm.
– Apply heat to defective heater element in area of bonded
joint.
– Grasp heater element in area of adhesive strips, and careful‐
ly detach it while continuously applying hot air.
– When so, slowly pull off heater element at an angle of ap‐
prox. 45°.
Note
Adhesive remains of the detective heater element may remain
on the padding.
– Make sure that no larger fragments of the padding are torn
out.
Note
Small torn out fragments are permissible.
