Selector Lever Park Position Solenoid  
N380 is also located at the selector lever.  
It prevents the selector lever from moving  
out of the “P” position when the ignition  
is turned off.  
The brake pedal must be pressed and the  
ignition turned on to enable movement of  
the selector lever from the “P” position.  
It is possible to turn on the  
ignition using the Access/Start  
Authorization Switch E415  
and using the Access/Start  
Authorization Button E408.

How it w orks

The Selector Lever Park Position Solenoid  
N380 is without current when the ignition is  
turned off, disabling the selector lever in  
the “P” position.

Once the ignition has been turned on, a  
signal is sent from the Access/Start  
Authorization Switch E415 or from the  
Access/Start Authorization Button E408 to  
the Access/Start Control Module J518.

Lever Park Position Solenoid N380 and the  
restriction is removed.  
The Selector Lever Park Position Lock  
Switch F319 signals to the Access/Start

Effect of failure  
If one of the signals fails or the Selector  
Lever Park Position Solenoid N380 is  
defective, then the selector lever cannot be  
moved out of the “P” position.  
The selector lever must be manually  
unlocked to allow towing of the vehicle.  
To manually unlock the selector lever:  
• The selector lever covering must  
be removed and the solenoid actuated  
by hand.  
• The selector ever must be  
simultaneously moved out of the  
“P” position.
