Fastening rings  
Observe the maximum load rating of the fastening rings (→ Fastening rings).  
Fastening rings in the load compartment

There are fastening rings→ Fig. 1 in the luggage compartment which can be used to secure loose items and luggage  
with the help of lashing, retaining or securing straps →

Securing the load on the fastening rails in the luggage compartment  
1. Fold up the fastening rings.  
2. Position the fastening straps or securing straps over the loadacross both diagonals and hook them into the  
fastening rings.  
3. Pull the fastening straps or securing straps tightly over the load. Make sure that the cross-over of the fastening  
or securing straps is positioned in the centre of the load.  
4. Check whether the load can still be moved. If necessary, tighten the securing straps even more tautly.  
WARNING  
Unsuitable or damaged lashing, retaining or securing straps could tear in the event of a braking manoeuvre or  
accident. This could cause objects to be flung through the vehicle interior and lead to severe or fatal injuries.  
Always use suitable and undamaged lashing, retaining or securing straps.  
Pull lashing, retaining and securing straps taut crosswise over the load on the luggage compartment floor and  
attach them securely to the fastening rings.  
Make sure that the upper edge of the load is higher than the fastening rings, particularly when stowing flat  
objects.

Operating the fastening rings in the seat rails  
The fastening rings in the seat rails can be used in the interlocking area of the rails.  
1. Tap and hold button in the fastening ring→ Fig. 2.  
2. Slide the fastening ring to the desired position.  
3. Release the button in the fastening ring.  
4. Push the fastening ring into the next position.  
If the fastening ring is not correctly engaged, a red marking can be seen→  
.
Removing the fastening rings in the seat rails  
1. Press the button in the fastening ring.  
2. Turn and remove the fastening ring.  
WARNING  
Incorrect use of fastening rings can cause severe or fatal accidents.  
Always use suitable and undamaged lashing straps or securing straps.  
Attach securing straps securely to the fastening rings.  
Loose objects in the vehicle can suddenly slide and change the way the vehicle handles.  
Never exceed the maximum load rating of the fastening rings when securing objects.  
Small and light objects should also be secured.  
Never secure a child seat using the fastening rings.  
Always position the seats in the direction of travel if a load is secured behind these seats on fastening rings.  
Never use elastic straps or nets to tie down loads.  
Apply loads to the fastening rings evenly.  
Ensure that the load retains its form and position once it has been secured. Use sturdy packaging and anti-slip  
floor surfacing for your load.  
Appropriate retaining straps, securing straps and load securing systems are available from correspondingly  
qualified workshops.
