General information  
To avoid locking it in the vehicle, do not place  
the remote control in the cargo area.  
If the remote control is in the sensor area, the  
tailgate may open or close inadvertently if you  
unintentionally move your foot or if something  
else moves in the detection area.  
Press button next on tailgate.  
This corresponds with pressing the button  
on the remote control.  
The sensor has an approximate range of  
5 ft/1.50 m extending from the rear of the vehi‐  
cle.  
The tailgate opens automatically.  
Opening and closing the tailgate with  
no-touch activation  
If the tailgate is opened via Comfort Access,  
locked doors are not unlocked.

Safety information  
The tailgate can be opened and closed with  
no-touch activation using the remote control  
you are carrying. Two sensors detect a for‐  
ward-directed foot motion in the central rear  
area and the tailgate is opened or closed.  
WARNING  
Body parts can be jammed when operat‐  
ing the tailgate. There is a risk of injury. Make  
sure that the area of movement of the tailgate  
is clear during opening and closing.◀

the rear window and heat conductors while  
driving. There is a risk of property damage.  
Cover the edges and ensure that pointed ob‐  
jects do not hit the rear window.◀

Malfunction  
Remote control detection by the vehicle may  
malfunction under the following circumstan‐  
ces:

The battery of the remote control is dis‐  
charged. Replace the battery, refer to  
page 38.  
Interference of the radio connection from  
transmission towers or other equipment  
with high transmitting power.  
Performing the foot movement  
1. Stand in the middle behind the vehicle at  
about an arm's length away from the rear  
of the vehicle.  
Shielding of the remote control due to  
metal objects.  
Do not transport the remote control to‐  
gether with metal objects.  
2. Wave a foot under the vehicle in the direc‐  
tion of travel and immediately pull it back.  
With this movement, the leg must pass  
through the ranges of both sensors.  
Interference of the radio connection from  
mobile phones or other electronic devices  
in direct proximity to the remote control.  
Do not transport the remote control to‐  
gether with electronic devices.  
In the case of a malfunction, unlock and lock  
the vehicle using the buttons of the remote  
control or using the integrated key, refer to  
page 39.
