Only the driver's door and the fuel filler  
flap are unlocked. Pressing again un‐  
locks the entire vehicle.

Using iDrive:  
System limits  
A clear assignment between the remote con‐  
trol and driver may not be possible in the fol‐  
lowing cases, for example.

The passenger unlocks the vehicle with his  
or her own remote control, but another  
person is driving.

Select the symbol.  
4. Select the desired function:  
"Tailgate"  
The driver unlocks the vehicle via Comfort  
Access and has multiple remote controls  
with him or her.  
The tailgate is opened.  
"Tailgate + door(s)"  
The tailgate is opened and the doors  
unlocked.  
The driver changes, but the vehicle is not  
locked and unlocked.  
Multiple remote controls are located out‐  
side of the vehicle.

Using iDrive:

General information  
Depending on your vehicle's equipment and  
the country version, various settings for open‐  
ing and closing are possible.  
With alarm system:  
"Acoustic sig. lock/unlock"  
These settings are stored for the driver profile,  
refer to page 46, currently used.  
Unlocking is signaled by one honk of  
the horn.  
"Flash when lock/unlock"  
Unlocking  
Unlocking is signaled by two flashes,  
locking by one.

The vehicle locks automatically after a  
short period of time if no door is  
opened after unlocking.  
When you lock and unlock the vehicle with the  
remote control or with Comfort Access, the  
alarm system is switched on/off at the same  
time.  
"Lock after start driving"  
The vehicle locks automatically after  
you drive off.  
Opening the doors with the alarm  
system switched on  
The alarm system is triggered when a door is  
opened if the door was unlocked using the  
integrated key in the door lock.  
Adjusting the last seat, mirror, and  
steering wheel position  
Using iDrive:  
1. "Settings"  
Switching off the alarm, refer to page 50.

Opening the tailgate with the alarm  
system switched on  
The tailgate can be opened even when the  
alarm system is switched on.  
3. "Last seat position autom."  
When the vehicle is unlocked, the driver's seat,  
exterior mirrors and steering wheel resume  
their last set positions.  
After the tailgate is closed, it is locked and  
monitored again provided the doors are  
locked. The hazard warning system flashes  
once.  
Alarm system  
General information  
Panic mode  
You can trigger the alarm system if you find  
yourself in a dangerous situation.  
When the vehicle is locked, the vehicle alarm  
system reacts to the following changes:  
Unauthorized opening of a door, the hood  
or the tailgate.  
Press button on the remote con‐  
trol and hold for at least 3 sec‐  
onds.  
Movements in the car's interior.  
Changes in the vehicle tilt, e. g., during at‐  
tempts at stealing a wheel or when towing  
the vehicle.  
Briefly press the button on the remote con‐  
trol three times in succession.  
Disconnected battery voltage.  
To switch off the alarm: press any button.  
Improper use of the socket for Onboard Di‐  
agnosis.  
The alarm system signals these changes visu‐  
ally and acoustically:  
Acoustic alarm.  
Depending on local regulations, the acous‐  
tic alarm may be suppressed.  
By switching on the hazard warning sys‐  
tem.  
By flashing the daytime running lights.
