Protecting Children
The Passenger’s Front Airbag
Poses Serious Risks to Children
(For some types)
Front airbags have been designed to
help protect adults in a moderate to
severe frontal collision. To do this,
the passenger’s front airbag is quite
large, and it inflates with tremendous
speed.
As required by E.C.E Regulation No. 94;
If the passenger’s front airbag
inflates, it can hit the rearward
facing child restraint system with
great force. The rearward facing
child restraint system can be
dislodged or struck with enough
force to cause very serious injury to
the infant.
Infants
Never put a rearward facing child
restraint system in the front seat of a
vehicle equipped with a passenger’s
front airbag. If the front airbag
inflates, it can hit the back of the
child restraint system with enough
force to kill or very seriously injure
an infant.
Extreme Hazard!
Do not use a rearward facing
child restraint on a seat
protected by an airbag in
front of it!
