To lock your vehicle using the door

handle button or the Smart Key:

1. Make sure all doors, the bonnet and

the tailgate are closed.

2. Press the Door Lock button (1) on the

Smart Key. The hazard warning lights

will blink with an alarm, and the doors

will be locked.

3. In addition, pushing the button on

the door handle (the engraved part)

whilst keeping the smart key will lock

all doors.

Your electric vehicle uses a Smart Key,

which you can use to lock or unlock the

driver and passenger doors, the charging

door or the rear tailgate.

Information

śꢀ The outside rearview mirror will

fold if ‘Enable on Door Unlock’ is

selected from the Settings menu in the

infotainment system screen. Select:

operate when the smart key is within

0.7~1 m from the outside door handle.

To lock your vehicle using the door

handle touch sensor or the Smart Key:

1. Make sure all doors, the bonnet and

the tailgate are closed.

śꢀ Touching the door handle touch sensor

does not unlock the doors. To unlock

the doors, refer to the following page.

Note that you cannot lock your vehicle

using the door handle touch sensor if any

of the following occur:

2. Press the Door Lock button (1) on

the Smart key. The hazard warning

lights will blink with an alarm, and the

handles will retract back.

śꢀ The Smart Key is in the vehicle.

śꢀ In addition, touching the touch sensor

on the door handle (the engraved

part) whilst keeping the smart key will

lock all doors and let the door handle

to retract back.

śꢀ The Start/Stop button is in ACC or ON

position.

śꢀ Any of the doors are open except for

the tailgate.

WARNING

Do not leave the Smart Key in your

vehicle with unsupervised children.

Unsupervised children could press the

Start/ Stop button and may operate

power windows or other controls, or

even make the vehicle move, which

could result in serious injury or death.

Unlocking your vehicle

To unlock your vehicle using the door

handle touch sensor or the Smart Key:

1. Make sure you have the smart key in

your possession.

2. Touch the touch sensor on the door

handle(engraved part) or press the

Door Unlock button (2) on the smart

key. All door handles will pop out and

the doors will be unlocked and the

hazard warning lights will blink twice.

3. After unlocking the doors, the doors

will automatically re-lock after 30

seconds unless a door is opened.

1. Make sure you have the smart key in

your possession.

Opening the tailgate

To open the tailgate:

1. Make sure you have the smart key in

your possession.

2. Press the tailgate open/close button

(3) on the vehicle or press and hold

the Tailgate handle switch on the

smart key for more than one second.

The hazard warning lights will blink

two times and the tailgate will open.

Information

śꢀ The outside rearview mirror will

unfold if ‘Enable on Door Unlock’ is

selected from the Settings menu in the

Enable on Door Unlock

śꢀ The door handle touch sensor will only

operate when the smart key is within

0.7~1 m from the outside door handle.

śꢀ The doors may lock or unlock if the

touch sensor of the outer door handle is

recognised whilst washing your car or

due to heavy rain.

Information

The tailgate open/close button will only

operate when the smart key is within 0.7

m from the tailgate.

śꢀ To prevent unintentional door lock or

unlock:

Press the lock button on the smart

key and immediately press the unlock

button along with the lock button

for more than 4 seconds. The hazard

warning lights will blink four times.

At this time, the doors will not lock or

unlock even though the touch sensor is

touched on the outside door handle.

To deactivate the function, press the

door lock or unlock button on the

smart key.

śꢀ The doors may not lock or unlock in

the following situations.

- If the touch sensor is touched with

gloves on

- If the door is suddenly approached

Information

During a car wash or rain, in order to

minimize unintentional operation of the

touch sensor, the touch sensor may become

insensitive. This is not a malfunction.

Remotely opening and closing the

charging door

To open charging door remotely:

Remotely starting vehicle

You can start the vehicle using the

Remote Start button (5) on the smart key.

To start the vehicle remotely:

Press the Charging Door Open/Close

button (4) for more than one second,

or press the charging door open/close

button in the vehicle whilst carrying the

smart key.

1. Press the door lock button on the

smart key within 10 m from the

vehicle.

2. Press the Remote Start button (5) for

more than 2 seconds within 4 seconds

after pressing the door lock button.

To close the charging door:

Press the Charging Door Open/Close

button (4) for more than a second whilst

the door is open, or press the charging

door open/close button in the vehicle

whilst carrying the smart key when the

charging door is opened.

3. The vehicle will start.

4. To turn off the remote start function,

press the Remote Start button (5)

once.

Information

śꢀ The vehicle must be in P (Park) for the

remote start function to start.

Remotely initiating electricity

charging

To remotely start charging the vehicle:

Press the charging door open/close

button in the smart key whilst the

charging connector is connected to the

vehicle.

śꢀ The vehicle turns off if you get on the

vehicle without a registered smart key.

śꢀ The vehicle turns off if you do not get

on the vehicle within 10 minutes after

remotely starting the vehicle.

śꢀ The Remote Start button (5) may not

operate if the smart key is not within

10 m.

śꢀ The vehicle will not remotely start if the

vehicle bonnet or tailgate is opened.

Remotely moving vehicle forward or

rearward (if equipped)

With the smart key, the driver can move

the vehicle forward or rearward using the

Forward or Rearward button (6, 7) on the

smart key.

For more details, refer to “Remote

Smart Parking Assist (RSPA)” section in

chapter 7.

Mechanical key

If the Smart Key does not operate

normally, you can lock or unlock the

driver’s door by using the mechanical

key.

To remove the mechanical key from the

smart key FOB:

Start-up

You can start the vehicle without

inserting the key.

For more details, refer to the “Start/

Stop Button” section in chapter 6.

If the smart key is not moved for some

time, the detection function for smart key

operation will pause. Lift the smart key to

activate the detection again.

1. Press the mechanical key and remove

it from the smart key FOB.

2. Move the release lever in the direction

of the arrow (1) and then remove

the mechanical key (2). Insert the

mechanical key into the key hole on

the door.

NOTICE

To prevent damaging the smart key:

śꢀ Keep the smart key in a cool,

dry place to avoid damage or

malfunction. Exposure to moisture

or high temperature may cause

the internal circuit of the smart key

to malfunction which may not be

covered under warranty.

To reinstall the mechanical key, put

the key into the hole and push it until

a click sound is heard.

Loss of a smart key

A maximum of three Smart Keys can

be registered to a single vehicle. If

you happen to lose your smart key,

it is recommended that you should

immediately take the vehicle and

remaining keys to your authorised

HYUNDAI dealer or tow the vehicle, if

necessary.

śꢀ Avoid dropping or throwing the

smart key.

śꢀ Protect the smart key from extreme

temperatures.

Smart key precautions

The smart key may not work if any of the

following occur:

śꢀ The smart key is close to a radio

transmitter such as a radio station or

an airport which can interfere with

normal operation of the transmitter.

śꢀ Keep the smart key away from

electromagnetic materials that

blocks electromagnetic waves to the

key surface.

śꢀ Always have the smart key with

you when leaving the vehicle. If the

smart key is left near the vehicle, the

vehicle battery may be discharged.

śꢀ The smart key is near a mobile two

way radio system or a mobile phone.

śꢀ Another vehicle’s smart key is being

If the Smart Key is not working properly,

try replacing the battery with a new one.

Battery Type: CR2032

To replace the battery:

If the smart key does not work correctly,

open and close the door with the

mechanical key. If you have a problem

with the smart key, it is recommended to

contact an authorised HYUNDAI dealer.

If the smart key is in close proximity to

your mobile phone, the signal could be

blocked by your mobile phone’s normal

operational signals. This is specifically

relevant when the phone is active such

as making and receiving calls, text

messaging, and/or sending/receiving

emails. When possible, avoid keeping the

smart key and your mobile phone in the

same location such as a pants or jacket

pocket in order to avoid interference

between the two devices.

If the Smart Key is not working properly,

try replacing the battery with a new one.

WARNING

People with medical devices such

as implanted pacemakers or cardiac

defibrillators should not carry the

smart key near the heart. The smart key

system may affect the operation of such

implanted medical devices. Failure to

do so may result in interference with

the medical device, which could result

in serious injury.

Information

An inappropriately disposed

battery can be harmful to

the environment and human

health. Dispose of the battery

according to your local law(s) or

regulations.

Immobiliser system

The immobiliser system helps protect

your vehicle from theft. If an improperly

coded key (or other device) is used, the

vehicle is disabled.

Battery Type: CR2032

To replace the battery:

When the Start/Stop button is pressed to

the ON position, the immobiliser system

indicator should come on briefly, then

go off. If the indicator starts to blink, the

system does not recognise the coding of

the key.

Press the Start/Stop button to the OFF

position, then press the Start/Stop

button to the ON position again.

1. Remove the mechanical key.

2. Use a slim tool to pry open the rear

cover of the smart key.

3. Remove the old battery and insert the

new battery. Make sure the battery

position is correct.

4. Reinstall the rear cover of the smart

key.

In some circumstances, the vehicle may

not recognise your smart key if another

smart key device is nearby or a metal

object such as a key chain is causing

interference with the smart key.

If you suspect your smart key might have

sustained some damage, or you feel

your smart key is not working correctly,

it is recommended that you contact an

authorised HYUNDAI dealer.

If this occurs, your vehicle may not

start. Remove any metal objects or

additional keys near the smart key before

attempting to start the vehicle again.

If the system repeatedly does not

recognise the coding of the key, it is

recommended that you contact an

authorised HYUNDAI dealer.

Do not attempt to alter this system

or add other devices to it. Electrical

problems could result that may make

your vehicle inoperable.

WARNING

THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS A BUTTON

BATTERY.

If swallowed, a lithium button battery

can cause severe or fatal injuries within

2 hours. Keep batteries out of reach of

children.

If you think batteries may have been

swallowed or placed inside any part

of the body, seek immediate medical

attention.

WARNING

In order to prevent theft of your vehicle,

do not leave spare keys anywhere in

your vehicle.

NOTICE

The transponder in your key is an

important part of the immobiliser

system. It is designed to give years

of trouble-free service, however you

should avoid exposure to moisture,

static electricity and rough handling.

Immobiliser system malfunction could

occur.
