regular brake system may not work
normally. Have the vehicle checked
by an Authorized Kia Dealer as soon
as possible.

tem (ABS) warning

All warning lights are checked by
turning the ignition switch ON (do not
start the engine). Any light that does
not illuminate should be checked by
an Authorized Kia Dealer.
This light illuminates if the key is
turned to ON and goes off in approx-
imately 3 seconds if the system is
operating normally.
WARNING
After starting the engine, check to
make sure that all warning lights are
off. If any are still on, this indicates a
situation that needs attention. When
releasing the parking brake, the
brake system warning light should go
off. The fuel warning light will stay on
if the fuel level is low.
If the light stays on, you may have a
problem with your ABS system.
Contact an authorized Kia dealer as
soon as possible.
If the both ABS and Brake warn-
ing lights are ON and stay ON,
your vehicle’s brake system will
not work normally. So you may
experience an unexpected and
dangerous situation during sud-
den braking. In this case, avoid
high speed driving and abrupt
braking. Have your vehicle
checked by Authorized Kia
Dealer as soon as possible.

indicate that the brake fluid level in
the reservoir is low.
If the warning light remains on:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe
location and stop your vehicle.
2. With the engine stopped, check
the brake fluid level immediately
and add fluid as required. Then
check all brake components for
fluid leaks.
3. Do not drive the vehicle if leaks
are found, the warning light

If there is a malfunction of the
front passenger’s air bag
ON/OFF switch, the front pas-
senger’s air bag OFF indicator
will not illuminate and the front
passenger’s air bag will inflate
in frontal impact crashes even if
the front passenger’s air bag
ON/OFF switch is set to OFF
position.
The front passenger’s air bag OFF
indicator illuminates for about 4 sec-

After reconnecting or recharging a
discharged battery, the ESP OFF
indicator may illuminate.
In this case, turn the handle half way
to the left and right while the ignition
switch is in the ON position. Then,
restart the engine after the ignition is
off. The ESP OFF indicator may turn
off. If the ESP OFF indicator does
not turn off, have the system checked
by an authorized Kia dealer as soon
as possible.
The ESP indicator will illuminate
when the ignition switch is turned
ON, but should go off after approxi-
mately 3 seconds. When the ESP is
on, it monitors the driving conditions
and under normal driving conditions,
the ESP light will remain off. When a
slippery or low traction condition is
encountered, the ESP will operate,
and the ESP indicator will blink to
indicate the ESP is operating.
The ESP OFF indicator will illumi-
nate when the ignition switch is
turned ON, but should go off after
approximately 3 seconds. To switch
to ESP OFF mode, press the ESP

will illuminate indicating the ESP is
deactivated. If this indicator stays on
when ESP OFF is not selected, the

Electric power steer-
Glow indicator
(diesel engine only)
Fuel filter warning
light (Diesel engine)
EPS
ing system(EPS) warn-
ing Light (if equipped,
diesel engine only)
This warning light illuminates for 3
seconds after the ignition switch is
set to the ON position and then it will
go out. If it lights up while the engine
is running, it indicates that water has
accumulated inside the fuel filter. If
this happens, remove the water from
the fuel filter. For more information,
refer to “Fuel filter” in chapter 7.
This light is turned on during warm-
up and turned off after it.
This indicator light comes on after
the ignition key is turned to the ON
position and then it will go out when
the engine starts. This light also
comes on when the EPS has some
troubles.
NOTICE
If the glow indicator continues to
illuminate after the engine has
warmed up or while driving, check
the system by an Authorized Kia
Dealer or other competent repair
shop as soon as possible.
If it comes on while driving, have
your vehicle inspected by an author-
ized Kia dealer.
CAUTION
When the fuel filter warning
light is illuminated, engine
power (vehicle speed & idle
speed) may decrease. If you
keep driving with the warning
light on, you can damage your
vehicle's engine parts and injec-
tion system of the Common
Rail. If this occurs, have your
vehicle checked by an author-
ized KIA dealer as soon as pos-
sible.
