If the download of a deep system update is com-  
pleted and the downloaded system update is  
ready for installation, you will be informed of this  
aꢂer the next ignition cycle, for example.  
Setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot  
Requirements:

If automatic soꢂware updates are activated,  
the system updates will be downloaded auto-  
matically.

To set up the Wi-Fi connection of the multime-  
dia system with external hotspots: your vehicle  
does not have a permanently installed com-  
munication module.  
%
Park the vehicle safely in a suitable location  
before starting the installation.  
The multimedia system provides a message when  
a system update is available.  
Requirements for the installation:

The device to be connected supports at least  
one of the types of connection described.

The ignition is switched oꢃ.  
You have the following selection options:

Notes and warnings have been read and  
accepted.

Accept and Install  
The system update will be downloaded in the  
background.

Information about the pending system update  
is displayed.  
If all requirements have been fulꢀlled, the down-  
loaded system update is installed. The multimedia  
system cannot be operated while the downloaded  
system update is being installed and vehicle func-  
tions are restricted.  
Activating/deactivating Wi-Fi

Select Wi-Fi.  
Connectting the multimedia system with an exter-  
nal hotspot using Wi-Fi  
The type of connection established must be selec-  
ted on the multimedia system and on the device  
to be connected.

The system update can be downloaded man-  
ually at a later time.  
If errors should occur during the installation, the  
multimedia system automatically attempts to  
restore the previous version. If restoration of the  
previous version is not possible, a symbol appears  
on the media display. Consult a qualiꢀed special-  
ist workshop to resolve the problem.  
Deep systtem updates  
Deep system updates access vehicle or system  
settings and can therefore only be carried out  
when the vehicle is stationary and the ignition is  
switched oꢃ.

The connection procedure may diꢃer depend-  
ing on the device. Follow the instructions that  
are shown in the display. Further information  
can be found in the manufacturer's operating  
instructions.  
Have the security key displayed on the device  
to be connected (see the manufacturer's oper-  
ating instructions).  
Press the WPS button on the device to be con-  
nected.  
Select Continue in the multimedia system.

Enter this security key on the multimedia sys-  
tem.

Select the options r of the desired Wi-Fi  
network.  
Select Internet Settings.  
Select Connect via Wi-Fi.  
Select Add Hotspot.

Connectiing using a WPS PIN

Select the options r of the desired Wi-Fi  
network.

Activate Permanent Internet Connection.  
Connecting using a QR code

Connecting with a known Wi-Fi network

Select the options r of the desired Wi-Fi  
network.  
Select Connect via WPS PIN Input.  
The multimedia system generates an eight-  
digit PIN.

Select Connect via Wi-Fi.  
Select a Wi-Fi network.  
The connection is established again.

Select Connect using QR code.  
Scan the displayed QR code with the device to  
be connected.  
The Wi-Fi connection is established.

Enter this PIN on the device to be connected.

Connecting using a button  
The type of connection established depends on  
the device to be connected. The function must be  
supported by the multimedia system and by the  
device to be connected. The type of connection  
established must be selected on the multimedia  
system and on the device to be connected.  
Connecting using a security key

Select the options r of the desired Wi-Fi  
network.

Select the options r of the desired Wi-Fi  
network.

Select Connect via WPS PBC.  
Select "Connect via WPS PBC" in the options  
on the device to be connected (see the manu-  
facturer's operating instructions).

Select Connect Using Security Key.

Select Vehicle Hotspot.

Select Connect Device to Vehicle Hotspot.  
Select the vehicle from the device to be con-  
nected. The vehicle is displayed with the  
DIRECT-MBUX XXXXX network name.  
Enter the security key which is shown in the  
media display on the device to be connected.  
To save a security key: select Save.  
When a new security key is saved, all existing  
Wi-Fi connections are then disconnected. If  
the Wi-Fi connections are being re-estab-  
lished, the new security key must be entered.  
Connectiing usingg WPS PINN ggeneration

Select Connect via WPS PIN Generation.  
Enter the PIN shown in the media display on  
the device to be connected and conꢀrm.

Select Connect via WPS PIN Input.  
Enter the PIN that is shown on the external  
device's display on the multimedia system.

Select Connect via NFC.  
Activate NFC on the mobile device (see the  
manufacturer's operating instructions).  
This function allows you to determine the lan-  
guage for the menu displays and the navigation  
announcements. The selected language aꢃects  
the characters available for entry. The navigation  
announcements are not available in all languages.  
If a language is not available, the navigation  
announcements will be in English.

Connectiing using a button  
Hold the device to be connected at the vehi-  
cle's NFC interface.

Select Connect via WPS PBC.  
Press the push button on the device to be  
connected (see the manufacturer's operating  
instructions).

Select Finished.  
The mobile device is now connected to the  
multimedia system hotspot via NFC.
