Note  
The switches in centre of dash panel are clipped in above  
the radio system or radio navigation system.  
The arrangement and the number of switches depends on  
the vehicle equipment.

Removing and installing light switch  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Turn rotary position indicator of light switch to zero position.  
– Press rotary grip of light switch -1-, and turn it slightly to‐  
wards right -2-.  
– Hold rotary grip in this position and pull light switch out of  
dash panel using rotary grip -3-.

– Release and separate electrical connector.  
Installing:  
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note  
the following:  
– Connect connector of light switch, and engage it.  
– Hold light switch stationary. Press rotary grip of light switch  
-1-, and turn it slightly towards right -2-.  
– Hold rotary grip in this position, and insert light switch in  
dash panel -3-.  
– Turn rotary grip of to zero position, then release, and engage  
switch.

range control regulator with switches  
and instruments illumination regulator  
Note  
Whether headlight range control regulator is fitted or not  
depends on equipment and/or country.  
As of July 2017, dim potentiometers have been discontinued  
on vehicles with automatic headlight control. Instead, there  
is a fixed brightness setting for the dash panel insert and for  
the switch illumination.

Caution  
When removing and installing components that are in view  
(switches, covers, trim and so on), mask off areas in which  
tools (removal wedge -3409-, screwdriver) are used to lever  
out those components using commercially available masking  
tape.  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Removal wedge -3409-  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Unclip lateral cover from dash panel on left.  
Note  
For reasons of clarity, the headlight range control regulator is  
illustrated with dash panel trim removed.  
– Press both retaining tabs -arrows-, and remove headlight  
range control regulator inwards.  
– Remove headlight range control regulator -1- sideways out  
of dash panel.

– Press catch -arrow-, and disconnect connector.  
Installing:  
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence of removal.

Note  
The removal and installation of all switches are performed in the  
same manner and are described only for one switch.  
Caution  
When removing and installing components that are in view  
(switches, covers, trim and so on), mask off areas in which  
tools (removal wedge -3409-, screwdriver) are used to lever  
out those components using commercially available masking  
tape.

Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Unclip compartment in middle on dash panel at points  
marked with -arrows-.  
– Release and disconnect connector -arrow-.  
– Press both detent clips -A-, and push out switch in  
-direction of arrow-.

– Release and disconnect connector from switch.  
Installing:  
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence of removal.  
Note  
The connectors for switches are colour-coded.

centre of dash panel as of model year  
2017  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Removal wedge -3409-  
Removing  
– Remove trim panel for dash panel ⇒ General body repairs,  
interior; Rep. gr. 70; Dash panel; Removing and installing  
trim panel for dash panel.  
– Place trim panel for dash panel on a clean surface.  
– Unclip relevant button -1- from trim panel of dash panel -2-,  
and press it towards outside to remove.

Installing  
Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Switch must audibly engage in trim panel of dash panel.  
– Check function of switch.
