Removing and installing cigarette light‐

All instructions and notes regarding this chapter are available

6.2  
Removing and installing 12-V socket  
The 12 volt sockets installed in the vehicle can be removed with  
the help of the puller -T40148- without removal of the interior  
equipment components.  
All instructions and notes regarding this chapter are available  
under “Electrical system, General information; Repair Group 96;  
Cigarette lighter; Socket”.  
Sockets that are secured with a threaded connection as well  
as sockets of a type that the puller does not fit on to are excep‐  
tions. These sockets are described separately.

Removing and installing upper 12-V  
socket in centre dash panel, up to  
model year 2017  
Caution  
When removing and installing components that are visible  
in the interior (switches, covers, trims, etc.), mask the areas  
where levering tools (plastic wedge, screwdriver) are to be  
applied using adhesive tape.  
Special tools and workshop equipment required

♦ Removal wedge -3409-  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Unclip storage compartment in centre of dash panel  
-arrows-.  
– Release and disconnect connector -arrow-.  
– Use a small screwdriver to press against point marked with  
-arrow- in between frame and electric socket.

– Then push electric socket out of frame. If necessary, also  
use small screwdriver to press against opposite side of elec‐  
tric socket in between frame and electric socket.  
Installing:  
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence of removal.

Removing and installing upper 12-V  
socket in centre dash panel, as of  
model year 2017  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Removal wedge -3409-  
Removing  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers.  
– Pull out ignition key.  
– Remove centre storage compartment of dash panel -2-

– Disconnect electrical connector -arrow- from 12-V socket -1-.  
– Release 12-V socket at indicated positions -1- with a small  
screwdriver.  
– Then, push 12-V socket out of centre compartment of dash  
panel -2-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal.

Removing and installing lower 12-V  
socket in centre dash panel  
Caution  
When removing and installing components that are visible

Removing:

– Unlock and disconnect all connectors from components in  
the cover.  
– Pull plastic clip -A- off electric socket in -direction of arrow-.  
– Remove bulb carrier -A- from socket.  
– Use a small screwdriver to press against point marked with  
-arrow- in between frame and socket, and push socket out of  
frame.

– If necessary, also use small screwdriver to press against op‐  
posite side of electric socket in between frame and electric  
socket.  
Installing:  
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence of removal.  
6.2.4  
Removing and installing 12-V socket  
on load area  
Removing:  
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw  
ignition key.  
– Release and disconnect connector -arrow- beneath vehicle.  
– Using pliers, carefully turn electric socket approx. 45° in  
-direction of arrow-.  
– Remove electric socket -arrow- and guide wiring connector  
outwards through hole in body.

Installing:  
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence of removal.

Removing and installing lower 12-V  
socket in rear centre console  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Removal wedge -3409-  
Removing  
– Release rear cover of centre console -2- from lower centre-  
console catches -1- with removal wedge -3409-.  
– Open rear cover of centre console -2- and release from up‐  
per catch.  
– Disconnect connector from 12-V socket.  
– Detach fuse -1-.  
– Disconnect electrical contact -2- from 12-V socket.  
– Release catches -arrow- with removal wedge -3409-.

– Carefully push the 12-V socket -1- out of the rear cover of  
centre console.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal.
