When switching from OFFROAD mode to ON-
ROAD mode, the ESC is switched on again if it
had been switched off. The ASR, however,
remains switched off.

Descent assistant
The downhill assistant maintains the speed at
which the vehicle was travelling at the start of
forward or
its control intervention, whether in
reverse →
.
One of the prerequisites for this is that the
surface must be sufficiently grippy. On
descents on steep slopes or slippery surfaces,
the descent assistant cannot fulfil its function.

The lowering assistant is always active, but only
regulates when the necessary prerequisites are
met. The lowering assistant is available when the
green indicator light is shown in the instrument
cluster display. The indicator light flashes when
the descent assistant intervenes on the brakes.

In this mode, the following systems and
properties are influenced:

The descent assistant intervenes automatically
:
– When the OFFROAD mode is engaged and
the green control lamp lights up.

– Descent assistant → p. 180
– Y: vehicle speed is less than 30 km/h (19
mph).
This is also the case when the LOW reduction
stage is engaged. In addition, the gear shift
points of the automatic transmission are
influenced.
– Y: the slope is at least 10 %.
– And: no accelerator and no braking.
– Y: the vehicle engine is running.
Display on the instrument cluster display
On the instrument panel display
connected to the steering angle of the aircraft is
displayed. When using the OFFROAD mode, it
is not possible to leave the display.
If the driver accelerates or brakes during
control of the assistant, the control is
interrupted. The assistant then intervenes
again if the necessary conditions are met again.
The descent assistant does not intervene:
– When the slope is less than 10 %.
Particularities
– OR: when the vehicle speed is above 30
km/h (19 mph).
Depending on how long the button on the lower
part of the centre console is pressed, the
OFFROAD mode only the ASR or the
complete ESC is switched off.
– OR: when the driver brakes or accelerates.
