Parking and manoeuvring -> Introduction (Park Distance Control) for Your Volkswagen Transporter Van Seventh Generation (2021-2025)

Park Assist is active and the parking manoeuvre is automatically cancelled
Park Assist automatically cancels a parking procedure if one of the following criteria is met:
The function button is pressed.
The driver intervenes using the steering wheel.
The driver door is opened.
The time limit or number of manoeuvres for parking are exceeded.
The TCS is switched off or is taking corrective action.
There is a fault in the system.
Start the parking procedure again (→ Driving into a parking space).
Park Assist is active and supports steering movements when the vehicle is stationary
If Park Assist attempts to turn the steering wheel when the vehicle is stationary, the white symbol appears on the
instrument cluster display.
1. Depress the brake pedal.
Park Assist parks inaccurately after a wheel change
If Park Assist does not park properly after a wheel change(e.g. vehicle is too far away or too close to the curb,) it may
be necessary for the system to adopt the new wheel circumferences.
1. Drive a longer distance with the vehicle, including curves.
Park assist automatically learns the new wheel circumferences.
Introduction
The Park Distance Control assists the driver when manoeuvring and parking.

(illustration).
How the system works
Park Distance Control detects the distance from an obstacle by means of sensors in the front and rear areas of the
vehicle .
Park Distance Control warns about an obstacle by means of colour segments on the Infotainment system screen and
acoustic signals → Fig. 1. The closer the vehicle drives towards an obstacle, the closer the segment will move
towards the vehicle as shown on the display → Introduction.

An automatic braking intervention can take place if the driver does not react when an obstacle is approaching
(→ Automatic braking intervention).
Also observe the information on the screen displays of the parking systems (→ Screen display).
Personalisation
Some Park Distance Control settings, e.g. the volume of the acoustic signals, can be stored in the personalised user
accounts. The settings change automatically when the user account is changed (→ Personalisation).
Things to note for trailer towing
The rear and side sensors of Park Distance Control are not switched on if a trailer is electrically connected:
No warnings are given for obstacles.
The manoeuvre braking function is also automatically deactivated.
Park Distance Control settings
Additional settings for Park Distance Control are possible in the Infotainment system, e.g. automatic activation when
driving forward, manoeuvre braking or volume of the signal tones.
1. Press the touch panel for parking functions (→ Centre console).
2. Tap the
function button in the Infotainment system and adjust the settings.
WARNING
The intelligent technology used in the parking systems cannot overcome the laws of physics, and functions only
within the system limits. The parking system is not a substitute for the full concentration of the driver. If this is not
observed, this can result in accidents, serious injuries and also damage to the vehicle.
Always pay due attention and do not rely exclusively on the parking systems.
NOTICE
The collision area has been reached at the latest when the penultimate segment is displayed.Do not drive on!
NOTICE
The vehicle must be moved a few metres forwards or backwards in order to scan and display the side areas in full. An
obstacle entering these areas from the outside will not be displayed.
