Automatic braking intervention
The driver is responsible for braking in time (→ Trailer manoeuvring system).
An automatic braking intervention may occur and the function may be cancelled in the following situations:
Speed of approximately 6–8 km/h (3–5 mph) is exceeded.
Steering interventions by driver.
Diver door is open.
The
function button is activated in the Infotainment system.
WARNING
Risk of injury. Fast rotational steering wheel movements can cause serious injury.
When manoeuvring, do not reach for the steering wheel until prompted to do so by the system.
Exception: If a dangerous situation occurs, intervene and take over the steering.
WARNING
Risk of injury. Do not let the automatic braking intervention tempt you to take any risks while driving, as this can
cause accidents. The system is not a substitute for the full concentration of the driver.
Trailer Assist has system-related limitations. In some situations the automatic brake intervention can only work in
a limited way or not at all.
If a dangerous situation occurs, intervene and take over braking yourself.
Automatic braking intervention is ended once the vehicle has been at a standstill for approximately 1.5 seconds.
Depress the brake pedal of the vehicle yourself following the automatic braking intervention.
The exterior mirrors cannot be adjusted while Trailer Assist is
active.
Rear Traffic Alert
Rear Traffic Alert monitors crossing traffic when reversing out of a parking space or manoeuvring.

How the system works
Rear Traffic Alert uses radar sensors in the rear bumper.
The system detects approaching or moving objects at the rear and to the sides of the vehicle→ Fig. 1 and warns the
driver when approaching an obstacle →
.
If an obstacle is detected, a warning signal is issued and the obstacle area is shown in colour in the Infotainment
system → Fig. 2.
If Park Distance Control is deactivated, no feedback can be given to the driver.
