WARNING
Improper positioning of the rear seats in the seat rails can cause serious injuries. After moving the rear seats, it must
be possible to fold the backrests into the upright position.
If the backrest cannot be folded up, the rear seat is not in the correct position in the rail for transporting people.
Always make sure that the rear seat is correctly positioned in the rail and that the backrest is folded up when
people or animals are transported on the seat.
WARNING
Improper use of the rear seats while driving can cause serious injuries.
Before driving off, make sure that no rear seat is in the convenient entry position.
WARNING
Armrests that have been removed and not securely stowed can move uncontrollably in the vehicle and obstruct
operation of the pedals. This can result in accidents and severe injuries.
Always stow removed armrests safely in the stowage compartments under the seats.
WARNING
Objects can fall out of open stowage areas and obstruct operation of the pedals. This can result in accidents and
severe injuries.
Before driving, fold down all seat cushions to close the stowage areas under the seats.
137
NOTICE
Improper folding of the backrests can cause damage to the seats.
Before folding the backrests forwards, adjust the seats so that the head restraints or folded backrest cushions do
not come into contact with the front seats.
NOTICE
The seats are very flexible, so adjusting them incorrectly can damage the seats as well as components in the vehicle
interior.
When adjusting the seats, make sure that they are not within the range of motion of other seats or components
in the vehicle interior.
NOTICE
If there is a rear seat with seat heating in the seat rail, contact between metallic objects and the seat rails can cause
a short circuit.
When adjusting the rear seats, make sure that no metallic objects fall into the seat rails.
NOTICE
Dirty seat rails can lead to malfunctions and sluggishness in seat adjustment.
Check the seat rails for dirt, and clean them regularly with the ignition off.
If a child seat is used on a single seat with Easy Entry function, the seats located behind that seat are difficult
to access. Therefore, a child seat should be used on another rear seat, if possible.
Removing and fitting the rear seats
The removal and installation of the rear seats is described below. All rear seats can be removed and installed.
Rear seats with integrated belts can be installed in the rear of the vehicle either in the direction of travel or against
the direction of travel.
Rear seats without an integrated belt can only be used to transport people in the direction of travel at belt height.

WARNING
Improper positioning of the rear seats in the seat rails can cause serious injuries. After fitting the rear seats, it must
be possible to fold the backrests into the upright position.
If the backrest cannot be folded up, the rear seat is not in the correct position in the rail for transporting people.
Always make sure that the rear seat is correctly positioned in the rail, the seat belt buckle is on the correct side
and the backrest is folded up when people or animals are transported on the seat.
WARNING
A rear seat that is not securely locked in place can cause serious injury.
A red locking pin in the lower area of the rear seat signals a removable rear seat. Always make sure that installed
rear seats are correctly engaged and that the red locking pins are never visible outside the seat.
After installing the rear seats and folding up the backrest, always make sure that the longitudinal adjustment of
the rear seats is securely locked in both seat rails.
WARNING
Armrests that have been removed and not securely stowed can move uncontrollably in the vehicle and obstruct
operation of the pedals. This can result in accidents and severe injuries.
Always stow removed armrests safely in the stowage compartments under the seats.
The red loop under the rear seat primarily has an unlocking function for seat removal. However, with the
backrest in the upright position, the rear seat can also be moved backwards and forwards by pulling the loop.

Introduction
The following section shows the options for adjusting and removing the head restraints. Always ensure that your
sitting position is correct .
Every seat is fitted with a head restraint. The head restraints on the front seats have been developed specifically for
the front seats. The rear head restraints are developed for the respective seats or seat rows depending on the
equipment. Therefore you should not install the head restraints in any other positions.
There are notches in the rods of the head restraints which enable them to engage in different positions. Only
correctly mounted head restraints can engage in the notches in the adjustment area. To prevent accidental removal
of the head restraints after installation, stops are fitted at the top and bottom of the adjustment area.
Correct head restraint setting
Adjust the head restraint so that its upper edge is at the same height as the top of the head, but not lower than eye
level. Position the back of your head as close to the head restraint as possible.
Head restraint setting for shorter people
Push the head restraint all the way down, even if the head is then underneath the top edge of the head restraint.
There may be a small gap between the head restraint and backrest in the lowest position.
Head restraint setting for taller people
Push the head restraint up as far as it will go.
WARNING
Driving without head restraints or with incorrectly adjusted head restraints increases the risk of severe or fatal
injuries in the event of an accident or sudden driving or braking manoeuvre.
If a seat is occupied, the head restraint for that seat must always be fitted and adjusted correctly.
Each vehicle occupant must adjust the head restraint to suit their body size in order to help reduce the risk of
neck injuries in an accident. As far as possible, the upper edge of the head restraint must be level with the top of
the head, but not lower than eye level. Position the back of your head in the middle and as close to the head
restraint as possible.
Never adjust the head restraint when the vehicle is in motion.
NOTICE
When removing or fitting head restraints, make sure that they do not hit the roof, the front seat backrest or other
parts of the vehicle. This will prevent damage from occurring.
