High-voltage System and Charging -> Optimise menu for Your Volkswagen ID.5 SUV First Generation (2021-2025)

While driving, the battery temperature is optimised via the heating so that a higher charging capacity is available upon arrival at the
DC quick-charging station. This shortens the charging time.
The availability of the function depends on the vehicle equipment and country.
Opening the menu
1. Open the Charging main menu in the Infotainment system.
2. Tap the
function button.

Maximum possible DC charging capacity.
The display may vary. No further optimisation is possible if the bar is completely filled.
Prerequisites
The vehicle’s drive system has been activated.
The function is stopped temporarily when the electronic parking brake is switched on.
Optimising the charging capacity automatically
If electric vehicle route planning with charging stops (DC quick-charging stations) is active, the time required for the heating process is
calculated automatically. The heating switches on before the next charging stop is reached.
1. Open the
menu in the navigation system .
2. Check that Optimising the rapid-charging function with active route guidance is activated and activate the function if necessary.
The maximum locally available charging capacity of the next quick-charging station is taken into account. The displayed DC
charging capacity can therefore vary at the charging stops.
Optimising the charging capacity manually
Heating can be started without active electric vehicle route planning function, e.g. before arriving at a quick-charging station.
