Hill Start Assist  
The Hill Start Assist function actively holds the vehicle when pulling away on an uphill gradient.  
Activating Hill Start Assist automatically  
The following conditions must be metsimultaneously to automatically activate Hill Start Assist:  
On an incline, the stationary vehicle must be held in position with the footbrake until you are ready to move off.  
The engine is running “smoothly”.  
Drive position D or reverse gear has been selected.  
To start moving, remove your foot from the brake pedal and press the accelerator immediatelyT. he brake will  
gradually be released as the vehicle pulls away.  
Deactivating Hill Start Assist  
If one of the following conditions is no longer met, Hill Start Assist is deactivated immediately:  
If the engine is not running smoothly or there is an engine fault.  
If the engine is switched off or has stalled.  
If the neutral position N is engaged.  
As soon as one of the tyres has insufficient contact with the ground, e.g. if the vehicle is standing at an angle to the  
fall line.  
CAUTION  
If you do not drive off immediately after releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle may roll backwards. In this case,  
press the brake pedal immediately or switch on the electronic parking brake.  
Immediately press the brake pedal or engage the electronic parking brake when the engine stops.  
Press the brake pedal for a few seconds before driving off if you want to prevent the vehicle from rolling  
backwards when driving off in heavy traffic on an incline.
