HILL sTART AssIsT
To aid starting on a gradient, your
vehicle is equipped with a system
which keeps it immobilised for a
short time (about ꢀ seconds), the
approximate time it takes to move
your foot from the brake pedal to
the accelerator pedal.

This function is only active when:
•
The vehicle is completely sta-
tionary, with your foot on the
brake pedal.
On an descending slope, with the
vehicle stationary and reverse
gear engaged, the vehicle is
held for a brief moment when
you release the brake pedal.
On an ascending slope, with the
vehicle stationary, the vehicle
is held for a brief moment when
you release the brake pedal:

In particular conditions on a
slope.
With the driver's door closed.
Note: The hill start assist function
cannot be deactivated.
•
If you are in first gear or neutral
with a manual gearbox.
The display of the message “Hill
start assist fault” indicates a mal-
function of the hill start assist func-
tion.
•
If you are in D or m gear with an
automatic gearbox.
User Precautions:
Do not leave the vehicle while it is being held in the temporary immobilisation hill start assist phase.
if you need to exit the vehicle with the engine running, manually apply the parking brake and
ensure that the warning lamp P (on the intrument panel) and the warning lamp P (on control a)
are permanently on.
