Driving -> Particle filter for Your Citroen C5 Suv First Generation (2001-2008)

INs TRUMe NT PANe L
PARTICLe FILTe R
In addition to the catalytic converter, this filter contributes actively to the preserving of air quality, by collecting the
polluting particles that have not been burnt off. Black exhaust fumes are thus eliminated.
ii
The simultaneous lighting of the
sErviCE warning lamp and the
display of the message “risk of
saturation of particle filter (FAP)”
on the instrument panel screen
indicates an increased risk of satu-
ration.
Clogging of the
particle filter
Clogging is caused by the particle
filter starting to be saturated (owing
to exceptionally long periods spent
driving in urban conditions : low
speeds, traffic jams, etc.).
Contact a CITROËN dealer as
soon as possible.
In order to regenerate the filter you
are advised to drive as soon as pos-
sible, when traffic conditions allow,
at a speed of 60 km/h (approx.
37 mph) or more for at least 5 min-
utes. If the problem persists, con-
tact a CITROËN dealer.
DiEsEl
additive
level
The simultaneous lighting of the
sErviCE warning lamp and the
display of the message “Particle
filter (FAP) additive level too low”
on the instrument panel screen
indicates that the additive needs to
be topped up.
Note: If the vehicle has been run-
ning for long periods at very low
speeds or at idle, vapour emis-
sions may be seen coming from
the exhaust under acceleration.
These have no consequences for
the running of the vehicle or for the
environment.
Contact a CITROËN dealer as
soon as possible.
