PARKING DISTANCE CONTROL (1/6)

System A

Special features

Ensure that the ultrasonic sensors indi-

cated by the arrows 1 are not obscured

(by dirt, mud, snow, a badly fitted/at-

tached number plate), impacted, mod-

ified (including paintwork) or obstructed

by any accessory fitted to the rear of

your vehicle.

Operating principle

Ultrasonic sensors, indicated by

arrows 1 are fitted in the rear bumper to

measure the distance between the ve-

hicle and an obstacle when the vehicle

is reversing.

This measurement is indicated by

beeps which become more frequent the

closer you come to the obstacle, until

they become a continuous beep when

the vehicle is approximately 30 centi-

metres from the obstacle. Stop as soon

as traffic conditions allow.

There is a beep when reverse gear is

engaged. If the beep sounds for a long

time (about three seconds), this signals

an operating fault.

The parking distance control system

does not take into account towing and

load carrying systems etc.

This function is an additional aid that indicates the distance between the

vehicle and an obstacle whilst reversing, using sound signals.

Under no circumstances should it replace the driver’s care or responsibil-

ity whilst reversing.

The driver should always be ready for sudden incidents while driving: always

ensure that there are no small, narrow moving obstacles (such as a child, animal,

pushchair, bicycle, stone, post, etc.) in the blind spot when manoeuvring.

Interference

Interference by factors in the immedi-

ate vicinity (external objects or the use

of devices operating with ultrasonic de-

tectors) may disrupt the system’s oper-

ation.

Deactivating the system

You can deactivate the system by

pressing switch 2 or, depending on the

vehicle, switch 3.

Deactivating the parking

distance control manually

If towing, carrying or trailer equipment is

present in front of the ultrasonic detec-

tors, you must deactivate the system.

An impact to the under-

side of the vehicle while

manoeuvring (e.g.: strik-

ing a post, raised kerb or

other street furniture) may result in

damage to the vehicle (e.g.: defor-

mation of an axle).

The warning light above switch 2

or 3 stays on.

Operating faults

The deactivated system can be reacti-

vated by pressing the switch again.

When the system detects an operating

fault, a continuous three-second beep

will sound as a warning. Consult an ap-

proved dealer.

To avoid any risk of accident, have

your vehicle checked by an ap-

proved dealer.

Depending on the vehicle, the system

detects obstacles in front and behind

the vehicle.

Special features

Ensure that the ultrasonic sensors indi-

cated by the 1 arrows are not obscured

by any accessory fitted to the front or

rear of your vehicle.

The parking distance control system

is only activated when the vehicle is

driven at a speed below approximately

6 mph (10 km/h).

vehicle and an obstacle whilst reversing, using sound signals.

Note: the display 5 shows the vehicle

surroundings and emits beeps.

Operation

Most objects located near the front and

rear of the vehicle are detected.

Depending on the distance of the ob-

stacle, the frequency of the beep will

increase as it approaches and will

become a solid beep at around 30 cm

from obstacles to the front or rear. The

green, orange (or yellow depending

on the vehicle) and red zones will be

shown on the 6 display.

Adjustment

Vehicles fitted with a multimedia

Depending on the vehicle, with the

engine running, some settings can be

adjusted from the multimedia screen 7.

Please refer to the multimedia instruc-

tions for further information.

Parking distance control audio

volume

When the vehicle is travelling at a

speed below approximately 6 mph

(10 km/h), some noises (motorcy-

cle, lorry, pneumatic drill etc.) may

trigger the beeping sound of the

parking distance control.

Adjust the volume of the parking dis-

tance control by pressing + or -.

System sound

Enables the system sound to be

chosen.

Activation/deactivation

Vehicles fitted with a multimedia

Deactivating the system sound

Activate or deactivate the parking dis-

tance control sound.

To activate or deactivate the various

zones covered by the ultrasonic detec-

tors from the multimedia screen, refer

to the multimedia instructions.

– With the vehicle stopped, press the 6

switch as many times as required to

reach the “Vehicle” tab;

– press the 7 or 8 control repeatedly to

reach the “Settings” menu. Press

– when the vehicle is in neutral for

manual gearboxes, or in position N
